Elite Performance Academy eighth grader Ashley Nevison, was recognized by Points of Light for creating a non-profit to benefit animals and people. "Launching Sargeant's Army in 2018, the 8th-grade she has focused on offering hope to those in need, whether it's through her homemade cat toys and blankets which go to foster homes for cats and kittens who are waiting for their forever home, essentials for the homeless or most recently, masks for hospital personnel and essential workers. Connecting with more than 1,000 people across greater Phoenix and beyond she is acting as a service role model to others."

Ashley Nevison attended the Royal International Miss International pageant in Orlando and won: 3rd Runner Up Role Model Preteen; Top 15 for the preteen divisional; Cover Girl; International Talent Preteen; International Fitness Model Preteen; International Spokesmodel Preteen; Volunteer Service Preteen; Scrapbook Preteen; 1st Runner Up Academic Achievement Preteen; 1st Runner Up International Statewear; and received the Gold Presidential Service Award for 2020.

Dereka demonstrates kindness to others every day, always willing to help someone understand or to help her teachers with small tasks around the classroom. She willingly shares class materials with a friendly smile. Additionally, Dereka demonstrates leadership by example through her cheerful attentiveness and humble nature. Though very busy with gymnastics and school, she faces these challenges with great citizenship towards others.

Elite Performance Academy (2018-2019)

Three 4th graders from Elite Performance Academy were among nineteen winners out of over 700 entries in the City of Chandler Environmental Art Contest. Their work will be displayed in the City of Chandler Calendar next year. We are proud of Leighton, Avery and Mackenzie from Ms. Lyons Class! The contest is designed to illustrate the importance of reducing waste, conserving water and preventing pollution. It is also an opportunity for students to learn more about environmental stewardship in their community and can become a catalyst for environmental education in the classroom. Students and staff at CTA Humphrey/Elite Performance Academy wrote letters to their peers at Ponderosa and Paradise Elementary Schools in Paradise, California. They wrote words of encouragement to the students and staff following the devastating Camp Fire which heavily damaged Ponderosa Elementary and completely destroyed Paradise Elementary. Thank you to staff member Aimee Hendrickson for coordinating.

We are so proud of all of our EPA students who wrote their own plays in Theatre Class! These plays were inspired by the children's author, Roald Dahl, and will focus on character, setting, conflict, story structure, and staging. Parents will be able to choose from two sessions to attend and Student Council will be sponsoring a breakfast or lunch fundraiser so parents and families can enjoy a meal while watching the show. We can't wait to see your performances the week of Feb. 29th, EPA!
