Congratulations to Carter Smith and CJ Zemlock who won 4th place in Physics and Astronomy - EL, Elementary Division (5th - 6th Grade) at the 2022 Hamilton Invitational Science and Engineering Fair (HISEF) for the project titled "Melting Procedures of Different Liquids."

Haley Elementary fifth graders were asked to choose someone they admired and write a biographical poem and illustrate for Black History Month.

Haley Elementary third grader Maile Tran helped teach the traditions of the Chinese New Year. Her family helped decorate the classroom, Maile wore traditional clothing, and she even gifted every classmate with a red envelope.

Congratulations to Haley school spelling bee champion 5th grader Chloe Passno who placed in the top eleven at the district spelling bee, held on January 13 at the Chandler Center for the Arts. Chloe now moves on to compete in the regional spelling bee on February 8 in Queen Creek.

Rep. Jennifer Pawlik visited Rice Elementary and Haley Elementary recently. She shared with students some of her responsibilities in the legislature. We are grateful for her advocacy for students and schools.

Haley Elementary cheer squads, 1st-2nd and 3rd-6th, both won first place in their dance competitions and second place in the Chandler Sports League cheer competitions on December 4 at Chandler High. Congratulations!

Haley Elementary fifth graders in Tricia Woods' class got a chance to check out some of the new STEM/ Social Emotional Based Books that they received with a Cash for Classrooms Grant! The library is stocked, and they are super thankful for some new books.

Haley Elementary kicked off Literacy Week based off this year's theme of "Humanity tells a story: What's YOUR chapter?" Students shared kindness quotes and many reading activities throughout the week of March 8.

We are proud of our Haley orchestra students who work so hard and were selected for Honor Orchestra! Marlo Nichols is in 6th grade and plays the cello. Paige Woolf is in 5th grade and plays the violin. Way to go, Marlo and Paige!

Haley Elementary students continue to participate in virtual running club. Haley's school running club is usually one of the largest in Chandler, and they are so excited that many kiddos continued to participate. Despite COVID restrictions, no competitions, and no friend to motivate them, they continued to run -- some even twice a week and more than 60 miles. The students in the photo were able to log in more miles than anyone else in their grade levels.

In October, Haley Elementary learned our school was named an Arizona Educational Foundation A+ School of Excellence for 2020! This makes 94 times that CUSD schools have earned A+ Schools of Excellence or U.S. Blue Ribbon awards since 1983, more than any other district in the state.

Superintendent's Student Citizenship Award winner: Brady Silsby is pleasant, agreeable, supportive, conscientious and helpful. Most importantly, he is respectful and a positive role model for his peers. He shows up to school with a smile on his face and has many friends. Brady is always inclusive, in the classroom or out. He is extremely active, loves all sports, and interacts well with his peers. He works hard for his grades, never gives up and encourages others. Brady is humble, kind and an absolute pleasure to have in class.

Congratulations to Haley teacher Spencer Emmons who recently earned National Board Certification. The process was rigorous, but worthwhile. National Board Certification was designed to develop, retain and recognize accomplished teachers and to generate ongoing improvement in schools nationwide. It is the most respected professional certification available in K-12 education. Created by teachers, for teachers, the National Board Standards represent a consensus among educators about what accomplished teachers should know and be able to do. Board certification is available in 25 certificate areas spanning 16 disciplines from Pre-K through 12th grade. National Board for Professional Teaching Standards website

The Arizona Department of Education announced that Haley Elementary received an "A" grade for the 2018-19 school year.

Haley Elementary's APEX Fun Run was the culmination of the school's one and only fundraiser. Not only did they raise a ton money for the school, the APEX lessons were focused upon building powerful student leaders while promoting fitness at the school.

Haley students had a great time learning how to make a positive difference in their classroom, school and their community from the Be Kind Crew. They learned to accept others for their differences and be supportive of others when they may be feeling sad.

Students enjoyed a bingo night in September put on by the Haley Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). Our wonderful PTO sponsors fun community events on a regular basis at Haley Elementary. Thank you, PTO!

On Constitution Day (September 17), Hamilton High School students from Brianna Willits' class who participate in the We The People program visited Haley Elementary and taught our fourth grade students a lesson about the Constitution. These seniors talked about what government is and what the preamble of the Constitution means. We are so proud of our Haley 5th and 6th grade students who competed district-wide at the Elementary Track Meet on April 1. Congratulations to our 6th grade boy relay team for taking 1st place in the district. Congratulations to our 5th grade girls relay team for taking 2nd place in the district. We had many other winners, too, who made our school very proud!

Congratulations to Randi Bell who was honored by the Sun Lakes Rotary as the Teacher of the Month for December. She received a framed certificate, a $100 personal award from the Sun Lakes Rotary and an additional $100 from Trust Bank to be used in her classroom.

More than 500 student-athletes turned out Monday, April 2nd for the second annual Chandler Unified School District Elementary Track and Field meet at Chandler High's Austin Field. Students advanced to the finals by competing in qualifying meets at local junior high schools. Parents and students arrived proudly wearing their school attire. Congratulations, Haley boys track, for winning the boys championship!

This award honors gifted and dedicated educators and coaches who inspire students to become outstanding members of society by helping them build lifelong skills and self-esteem through genuine achievement and perseverance, and showing them how to accomplish more than they ever thought possible.
