2018-19 Fall Sports Season Re-Cap
Badminton - 14-0 regular season, 1st team in state power rankings, State Champions, BYE in the 1st Round of the State Playoffs, defeated Mtn View in the Quarterfinals, defeated Hamilton in the Semi Finals, defeated Corona in the Finals. Doubles team of Nikhita Jayaraj/Ashley Rodarte were State Champions and named AIA Section Doubles Players of the Year. Nikhita Jayaraj is nominated for AZ Central Badminton Player of the Year. Singles player Julia Mumme was State Runner Up, was named AIA Section Singles Player of the Year and is nominated for AZ Central Badminton Player of the Year. Amanda McLauglin/Evelyn Nielsen made it to the Second Round of State Doubles. Coach Lerina Johnson is a finalist for the National High School Athletic Coaches Association National Coach of the Year-Specialty Sports/Badminton.
Boys Cross Country - 4th team at the City Meet, 3rd team at the Sectional Meet, 9th team at State. AIA Team Scholar Award. Gavin King placed 36th at State and was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. James Cardon was 54th and was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team, Sam Anderson was 61st and was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Owen Jackson was 66th and was named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention, Marcus Behling was 92nd and was named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Dana Crist was 94th and James Cochran was 134th.
Girls Cross Country - City Meet Runner Up, 3rd team at the Sectional Meet, 9th team at State. AIA Team Scholar Award. Kylie Miller placed 8th at State for All-State 2nd Team and was named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Taylor Lovell placed 9th at State for All-State 2nd Team and was named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Kate Miller placed 67th at State and was named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Sydney Stevens placed 68th at State. Rylee Engleken placed 74th at State and was named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Keely Obrey was 97th at State. Emily Aker placed 132nd at State.
Football - 8-2 regular season, 6th team in state power rankings, State Runners Up. Defeated Basha in the 1st Round of the State Playoffs, defeated Desert Vista in the Quarterfinals, defeated Pinnacle in the Semi Finals, lost to Chandler in the Finals. Chubba Purdy (QB) was named AIA All-6A Conference 1st Team, All-Premier Region 1st Team, earned an Ed Dougherty Medallion, was named AZ Cardinals Player of the Week, and was Honorable Mention AZ Central All-USA Arizona Team. Brayden Rohme (OL) was named AIA All-6A Conference 1st Team, All-Premier Region 1st Team, earned the NFF Valley of the Sun Frank Kush Offensive Lineman Award and the Scholar Athlete 1st Team Award, earned an Ed Dougherty Medallion, and was named to the AZ Central All-USA Arizona Team. Colby Dickie (WR) was named AIA All-6A Conference 1st Team, All-Premier Region 1st Team, earned the NFF Valley of the Sun Scholar Athlete 3rd Team Award, and was Honorable Mention AZ Central All-USA Arizona Team. Travis Beckman (DL) and Travis Calloway (DB) were named AIA All-6A Conference 1st Team, All-Premier Region 1st Team and were Honorable Mention AZ Central All-USA Arizona Team. Jalen Young (RB) was named All-Premier Region 1st Team and earned an Ed Dougherty Medallion. Braxton Smith (LB) was named All-Premier Region 1st Team Kyle Patterson (U) was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team and earned the NFF Valley of the Sun Scholar Athlete 3rd Team Award. Justin Clatterbuck (OL), Connor Boyd (P), Sam Cross (K), Zavier James (KR), Hezekiah Lockhart (OL), Clayton Schmitz (DB), and Kellen Simmons (DB) were named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Joshua Amerine, Ethan Barnhardt, Jaden Burns, Jackson Ford, Andrei Mayberry, Cole Sabetta, Ryan Short and Jakob Warren were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Jaden Cambra earned the BBB Ethical Athlete Scholarship. Jackson Williams earned the Chandler Men of Action Saunders Montague Scholarship.
Boys Golf - 4th place at State. AIA Team Scholar Award. Caden Christopherson was the highest finisher for Perry at State at 3rd place and was named All-Premier Region Player of the Year, is nominated for AZ Central Boys Golf Player of the Year, and won the Perry HS Wendy's High School Heisman Award and the Wendy's High School Heisman State Award. T.J. Sifferman was 27th at State and was named 2nd Team All-Premier Region. Ryan Macpherson was 38th at State and was named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Connor Brown was 46th at State and was named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Tyler Macpherson was 71st at State.
Girls Golf - 6th place at State. AIA Team Scholar Award. Malia Uyeshiro were the highest finishers for Perry at State at 8th Place and was named 1st Team All-Premier Region. Breann Brennan was 23rd at State 2nd Team All-Premier Region. Caitlin Chamelbide was 39th at State and was named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Annie Brown was 44th at State and was named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Saige Stutz and MaCayela Hanks also played at State.
Boys Swim/Dive - 15th place at State. AIA Team Scholar Award. Tate Lewis was 16th in the 50 Free and 17th in the 100 Free, and was named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Tanner Van Briesen was 14th in the 500 Free and 24th in the 200 Free, and was named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Everett Milloy was 22nd in the 100 Backstroke. Evan Nail was 14th in the 500 Free. Justin Tassinari was 20th in the 100 Butterfly. The 200 Free Relay of Sam Brenchley, Aiden Diaz, Lewis and Van Breisen was 8th. The 400 Free Relay of Diaz, Lewis, Van Briesen and Willis was 12th. The 200 Medley Relay of Brenchley, Nail, Tassinari and Jake Willis was 14th.
Girls Swim/Dive - 12th place at State. AIA Team Scholar Award. Kalli Fama was State Champion in the 100 Free and State Runner Up in the 200 Free, NISCA All-American for the 100 and 200 Free, was named All-Premier Region 1st Team for the 100 and 200 Free, and is nominated for AZ Central Girls Swimmer of the Year. Savannah Boylin was 26th in the 50 Free and 29th in the 100 Free, and was named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Chloe Convis was 22nd in the 200 IM and 29th in the 100 Breaststroke, and was named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. The 200 Free Relay of Boylin, Convis, Fama and Riley McKenna was 7th. The 400 Free Relay of Natalie Christolfolo, Ashlyn Garziani, McKenna and Kayla Walker was 19th. Amayah Wiley was 13th in Diving. Alexia Jackson, Mackenzie Wagner and Brooklyn Larson also completed at State Dive. Myka Willden earned the Taco Bell Student Athlete Citizen Award from Fox Sports.
Girls Volleyball - 16-1 regular season record. 1st team in state power rankings, defeated Westwood in the 1st Round of the State Playoffs, defeated Queen Creek in the Quarterfinals, lost to Corona in the Semi Finals. AIA Team Scholar Award. Madison Beasley (Setter) and Grace Doyle (Middle) were named AIA All-6A Conference 1st Team and All-Premier Region 1st Team. Matea Suan (Libero) was named AIA All-6A Conference 2nd Team and All-Premier Region 1st Team. Jenna Heller (Setter) and Sian Richardson (Outside) were named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Brooklyn Poling and Tatum Stall were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.

Boys Basketball - 13-5 regular season, 4th team in state power rankings. Defeated Skyline in State Round 1. Defeated Mountain Pointe in the State Quarterfinals. Lost to Pinnacle in the State Semi Finals. AIA Team Scholar Award. Jalen Williams was named AIA All-6A Conference 1st Team, All-Premier Region Player of the Year, and earned the United Dairymen of AZ and AZ Coaches All-American Award. Kyle Patterson was named AIA All-6A Conference 2nd Team and All-Premier Region 1st Team. Dylan Anderson was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Bauer Bongard and Andrew Morrill were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.
Girls Basketball – 14-4 regular season, 3rd team in state power rankings. Defeated Westwood in State Round 1. Lost to Valley Vista in the State Quarterfinals. AIA Team Scholar Award. Madison Conner was named AIA All-6A Conference 2nd Team and All-Premier Region 1st Team. Tatyanna Clayburne was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Grace Oken and Shayla O'Neil were named All-Premier Region Region Honorable Mention.
Boys Soccer - 7-4-1 regular season, 11th team in state power rankings. Defeated La Joya in the State Play-in. Defeated Tucson in State Round 1. Lost to Hamilton in the State Quarterfinals. Wyatt Deutsch (Defense) and Garrett Kowalski were named AIA All-6A Conference 2nd Team and All-Premier Region 1st Team. Kayden Burnes (Midfield) was named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Elias Guzman (Forward), Luke Macias (Midfield), Cole Stewart (Defense) and Landon Carter (Goalie) were named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Hayden Jaramillo and Cole Wood were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.
Girls Soccer - 10-0-2 regular season, 2nd team in state power rankings. State Runner Up. Defeated Liberty in State Round 1. Defeated Pinnacle in the State Quarterfinals. Defeated Desert Vista in the State Semi Finals. Lost to Chaparral in the State Finals. AIA Team Scholar Award. Joelle Lujan (Midfield) was named AIA All-6A Conference 1st Team, All-Premier Region 1st Team, Honorable Mention for the AZ Central Soccer Player of the Year, and was named United Soccer Coaches All-Region. Brenna Alderson (Forward) named AIA All-6A Conference 1st Team, All-Premier Region 1st Team, and and was named United Soccer Coaches All-Region. Kayla Campbell (Defense) was named AIA All-6A Conference 1st Team and All-Premier Region 1st Team. Jazmyn Brass (Goalie) was named AIA All-6A Conference 2nd Team, All-Premier Region 1st Team, is nominated for AZ Central Soccer Player of the Year, and was named United Soccer Coaches All-Region. Mikella Reed (Forward) and Shaylynn Uyeshiro (Defense) were named AIA All-6A Conference 2nd Team and All-Premier Region 1st Team. Aubrey Flores (Forward) and Maddie Walz (Defense) were named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Bailee Brown and Kendall McIntyre were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. John Roberts was named All-Premier Region Coach of the Year.
Wrestling – 12th at the State Tournament. Apache Junction and Ironwood Ridge Tournament Champions. Daniel Mendoza (106lb), Joe Abeita (113lb), Tyler Rovnak (120lb), Kyle Havey (126lb), Charles Hendrickson (132lb - Section Runner Up), Ikaika Maldonado (145lb - Section Runner Up), Tucker Moore (152lb), Jacob Kimling (160lb - Section Runner Up), Connor Boyd (170lb - Section Champion), Travis Calloway (195lb - Section Champion), Alex Edjourian (220lb - Section Runner Up), Justin Clatterbuck (285lb - Section Champion) and Mariah Gramza (225lb-Girls) qualified for the State Tournament. Travis Calloway was the State Runner Up, was named All-Premier Region 1st Team and earned the United Dairymen of AZ and AZ Coaches All-American Award. Justin Clatterbuck took 4th place at State, was named All-Premier Region 1st Team, and earned the United Dairymen of AZ and AZ Coaches All-American Award. Connor Boyd took 6th place at State, was named All-Premier Region 1st Team, and earned the United Dairymen of AZ and AZ Coaches All-American Award. Tyler Rovnak was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team 120lb. Charles Hendrickson was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team 132lb. Ikaika Maldonado was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team 145lb. Jacob Kimling was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team 160lb. Alex Edjourian was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team 220lb. Joe Abeita, Christian Gomez and Daniel Mendoza were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Coach Darren Johnson was named All-Premier Region Coach of the Year.

CJ Valdez (Pitcher) was named AIA All-6A Conference 1st Team, All-Premier Region 1st Team, and named to the 6A North All Star Team. Kasin Alexander (Position Player) was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team and named to the 6A North All Star Team. Trenton Pallas (Position Player) was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Connor Abernethy and Zach De Hondol were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.
Softball - 14-4, 5th team in state power rankings. Lost to Tucson in State Round 1. AIA Team Scholar Award. Kylee Hough (Position Player), Chloe Krason (Position Player) was named AIA All-6A Conference 2nd Team and All-Premier Region 1st Team. Saige Stutz was named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Samantha Gorgia and Sienna Reed were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.

Jordi Ferre/Davin Lugwig defeated Mountain Pointe in Doubles State Round 1 and lost to Brophy in Round 2. Tatsuya Tsurumi defeated Red Mountain in Singles State Round 1 and lost to Basha Sunnyslope in Round 2, was named All-Premier Region Player of the Year, and was named AZ Tennis Coaches Association Honorable Mention. John Waltz was named All-Premier Region Coach of the Year.
Girls Tennis - 12-2, 6th team in state power rankings. AIA Team Scholar Award. Lost to Desert Vista in State Round 1. AIA Team Scholar Award. McKenzie Jones/Talia Schrader defeated Desert Ridge in Doubles State Round 1 and lost to Chaparral in Round 2. Elyse Policastro defeated Highland in Singles State Round 1 and lost to Hamilton in State Round 2. McKenzie Jones was named AZ Tennis Coaches Association Honorable Mention. Keith Castillo was named All-Premier Region Coach of the Year.
Boys Track - 19th place at State. AIA Team Scholar Award. Kobe Rome placed 6th in the Triple Jump and was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Obinna Nwankwo placed 7th in the 300 Hurdles and was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Alex Edjourian placed 8th in the Shot Put and was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Cade Berger placed 9th in the Long Jump. Zach Extine placed 10th in the 110 Hurdles, 16th in the 300 Hurdles and was named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. James Cardon placed 18th in the 1600 and 24th in the 3200. The 4x100 team of Berger, Jackson Ford, Tracy Franklin and Rome placed 14th. The 4x800 relay of Joseph Bosi, Cardon, Sean Flynn and Austin Hutchings placed 16th.
Girls Track - 5th place at State. AIA Team Scholar Award. Samara McConnell placed 3rd in the Pole Vault and was named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Kylie Miller placed 3rd in the 3200, 5th in the 1600, 17th in the 800 and was named All-Premier Region 1st Team in the 3200. Courtney Weisenberger placed 3rd in the Triple Jump, 11th in the Long Jump and was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Jayden James placed 3rd in the Javelin and was named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Taylor Lovell placed 4th in the 1600, 7th in the 800 and was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team in the 1600. Brenna Rodriguez placed 5th in the Long Jump, 15th in the 100 and was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team in the Long Jump. Madalyn Fritts placed 6th in the Pole Vault and was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Katie Woods placed 10th in the Triple Jump and was named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Emma Kozel placed 16th in the High Jump and was named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Carolyn Row placed 16th in the Pole Vault. Olivia Harambasic placed 19th in the Long Jump, 23rd in the 100 Hurdles and 24th in the 300 Hurdles. Ella Gunkel placed 20th in the 100. Samantha Rogers placed 21st in the Javelin. Anais Newenhouse placed 25th in the 100. The 4x100 team of Gunkel, Newenhouse, Rodriguez and Weisenberger placed 5th.The 4x800 relay of Lovell, Miller and Kate Miller and Kennedy Nolde placed 5th.
Beach Volleyball - 11-1, 2nd in state power rankings. State Runners Up. Defeated Gilbert in State Round 1, defeated Ironwood Ridge in the Quarterfinals, defeated Corona in the Semis, lost to Xavier in the Finals. AIA Section 1 Champions. AIA Team Scholar Award. Canon Bongard and Matea Suan were named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Kylee Brinkerhoff, Morgyn Seibel and Tatum Stall were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.

Carson Bashford and Daxton Tolman were named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Zachary Morrill was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Unified Sports - Kyle Shagena was named AIA Unified Partner of the Year.
