2020-21 Fall Sports Season Re-Cap
Badminton – 13-0 Regular Season, 1st Team in State Rankings. State Champions. Highland Flying Feathers, Chaparral Firebird Invitational and Westwood Birdie Blitz Champions. Defeated Corona in State Round 1, Xavier in the Quarterfinals, Basha in the Semi Finals, and Sunnyslope in the Finals. Doubles team of Nikhita Jayaraj/Ashley Rodarte were State Champions and named AIA Premier Section Doubles Players of the Year and All-Premier Region 1st Team Doubles. Doubles team of Emma Cross/Jayden Montano lost in State Round 1 and were named All-Premier Region 2nd Team Doubles. Kate Macpherson was the Singles State Runner Up and was named All-Premier Region 1st Team Singles. Adrianna Ramos, and Kaylee Ross were named All-Premier Region 2nd Team Singles. Lauren Faust and Morgan Vogt were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Head Coach Lerina Johnson was named AIA Premier Section and All-Premier Region Coach of the Year.
Boys Cross Country - 11th Place at State. Austin Hutchings was 13th at State and was named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Matthew Camp was 51st and was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. James Kinney was 74th, Sean Flynn was 94th, and both were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Jack Fasano was 99th, Aceson Hale was 103rd and Brady Hutchings was 110th.
Girls Cross Country - City Meet Champion, Sectional Meet Runner Up, 3rd Place at State. Taylor Lovell placed 4th at State for All-State 1st Team, was named All-Premier Region Runner of the Year. Sara Jones was 8th at State for All-State 2nd Team and was named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Kylie Miller was 19th at State for All-State 3rd Team and was named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Sydney Stevens was 30th, Kate Miller was 32nd and both were named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Kennedy Nolde was 49th, Rylee Engelken was 59th and both were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Bryan Idleman was named All-Premier Region Coach of the Year.
Football – 0-6 Regular Season. 18th team in State Rankings. Grant Sands (Long Snapper) was named AIA All-6A Conference Long Snapper, All-Premier Region 1st Team and named Under Armor All-American. Cade Berger (Kick Returner) and Andrew Mason (O-Line) were named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Kolton Cunningham, Aiden Herring, Hunter Martinez, Ian Nieto, Cooper Scott, and Ryan Severson were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Christopher Snowden was named a National Alliance of African American Athletes Phoenix Chapter Male Scholar Athlete.
Boys Golf – Boys golf did not qualify for state. Joe Houghton and Gabriel Murillo were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.
Girls Golf – 6th place at State. Malia Uyeshiro was the highest finisher for Perry at State at 12th Place and named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Malerie Nyberg and Kylie Rehberger tied for 39th and were named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. MaCayela Hanks was 50th and Lili Stutz was 57th, both were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.
Boys Swim/Dive – 6th place at State. Evan Nail was the State Champion in the 200 Free, 3rd in the 500 Free, was named All-Premier Region Swimmer of the Year and 1st Team in the 200 and 500 Free, and was named to the AZ Central All-Arizona Swim Team. Jax Juarros was 5th in Dive and named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Gerardo Rios was 6th in Dive and was named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Michael Johnson was 8th in the 100 Free, 17th in the 50 Free and was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team 100 Free. Michael Loughboro was 9th in the 100 Back, 17th in the 200 IM, and named All-Premier Region 2nd Team 200 IM. Jackson Clark was 14th in the 100 Fly and named All-Premier Region 1st Team 100 Fly. Lukas Aldrich was 15th in the 100 Back and named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Matthew Rose was 23rd in the 100 Free. The team of Johnson, Rose, Loughboro and Nail were 5th in the 400 Free Relay, 6th in the 200 Free Relay and were named All-Premier Region 1st team in both. Coach Stephanie Carrasco was named All-Premier Region Coach of the Year.
Girls Swim/Dive – 13th at State. Alexia Jackson was 4th in Dive and named All-Premier Region 1st Team Dive. Amayah Wiley was 6th in Dive and named All-Premier Region 2nd Team Dive. Brooklyn Larson was 8th in Dive and was named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Chloe Convis was 13th in the 200 IM, 14th in the 100 Breast, and named All-Premier Region 2nd Team 200 IM. McKenzie Wagner was 14th in Dive. Isabella Schaller was 19th in the 500 Free and 21st in the 200 Free. Kiara Terry was 14th in the 100 Back and 21st in the 500 Free and named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Reese Carpenter was 25th in the 100 Breast. Aliya Hawkins was 25th in the 100 Free. Bailey Hatzky was 29th in the 100 Breast. The team of Keira Lemon, Hawkins, Kayla Waler and Schaller were 13th in the 200 Free Relay and 17th in the 200 Free Relay.
Girls Volleyball - 15-0 regular season. 1st team in state power rankings. State Runner Up. Defeated Mountain Ridge in State Round 1. Defeated Xavier in the State Quarterfinals, Defeated Mountain View in the State Semi Finals. Lost to Hamilton in the State Finals. Jenna Heller was named All-Premier Region Offensive Player of the Year and AZ Central All-Arizona Honorable Mention. Jordan Suan was named All-Region Defensive Player of the Year. Alyssa Montoya and Ella Rud were named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Avery Burks and Makayla Long were named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Rylee McDugle and Maddie Mayginnes were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.
2020-21 Winter Sports Season Re-Cap
Boys Basketball - 14-2 regular season. 3rd team in state power rankings. Defeated Pinnacle in State Round 1. Lost to Mountain Pointe in the State Quarterfinals. Region Champions. Dylan Anderson was named the Arizona Gatorade Player of the Year, All-6A Conference 1st Team, All-Premier Region Player of the Year and was named to the AZ Central All-Arizona Basketball Team. Cody Williams was named All-6A Conference 2nd Team, All-Premier Region 1st Team, and was AZ Central All-Arizona Honorable Mention. Christian Tucker was named All-Premier Region 1st Team and was AZ Central All-Arizona Honorable Mention. Kyle Waters and Demarco Wiley were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Sam Duane was named All-Premier Region Coach of the Year.
Girls Basketball – 12-5 regular season. 8th team in state power rankings. Defeated O'Connor in State Round 1. Lost to Hamilton in the State Quarterfinals. Khamil Pierre was named All-6A Conference Defensive Player of the Year, All-6A Conference 2nd Team, All-Premier Region Defensive Player of the Year, and was AZ Central All-Arizona Honorable Mention. Nicole Smith was named All-Premier Region Offensive Player of the Year. Gabrielle Schwartz was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Leah Davis and Tianna McKinley were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.
Boys Soccer - 4-9 regular season. 22nd team in state power rankings. Titus Charles (Defense), Dennis Cloud (Midfield), and Brody McConahay (Midfield) were named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Caden Dosmann and Teagan Smith were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.
Girls Soccer - 11-0-1 regular season. 1st team in state power rankings. Defeated Basha in State Round 1. Defeated Red Mountain in the State Quarterfinals. Lost to Xavier in the State Semi Finals. Region Champions. Jazmyn Brass (Goalie) was named AIA All-6A Conference 1st Team, All-Premier Region 1st Team, AZ Central All-Arizona Soccer Team, and the United Coaches High School All-America Team. Joey Lujan (Midfield) was named AIA All-6A Conference 1st Team, All-Premier Region 1st Team, and was AZ Central All-Arizona Honorable Mention. Sierra Haren was named AIA All-6A Conference 1st Team and All-Premier Region Player of the Year. Megan Hedger (Forward) was named AIA All-6A Conference 2nd Team, All-Premier Region 1st Team, and was AZ Central All-Arizona Honorable Mention. Jae Pallas (Defense) was named AIA All-6A Conference 2nd Team and All-Premier Region 1st Team. Adelie Zechmann (Forward) was named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Emiliee Bennett (Forward), Taylor Lovell (Midfield), Mikella Reed (Forward) and Kasie Vigil (Defense) were named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Hailey Reed and Breanna Rodriguez were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.
Boys Wrestling – 9th at the State Tournament. Sectional Runner Up. Joshua Rose (106lb), Alexander Gutierrez (120lb - Sectional Runner Up), Ernesto Aparicio (126lb), Andrew Cano (132lb), Jordan Kimling (138lb - Sectional Runner Up), Gavin Cochran (145lb), Caleb Milnes (170lb - Sectional Champion), Hershal Hall (182lb), Jacob Hansen (195lb - Sectional Champion), Bo Hall (220lb - Sectional Runner Up) and Brody Smith (285lb - Sectional Runner Up), qualified for the State Tournament. Caleb Milnes was the State Runner Up and was named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Jacob Hansen took 4th place at State and was named 2nd team All-Premier Region. Ernesto Aparicio and Bo Hall took 6th place at State and were named 2nd team All-Premier Region. Alexander Gutierrez and Gavin Cochran were named 1st team All-Premier Region for their weight classes. Joshua Rose, Andrew Cano, Sam Villegas, Hershal Hall, and Brody Smith were named All-Premier Region 2nd Team for their weight classes. Connor Cochran and Daylon Mauch were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.
Girls Wrestling – Areeanna Mia Dora Morales (160lb) took 3rd Place at the State Tournament. Amiya Hernandez (132lb) and Arianna Mauch (145lb) qualified for the State Tournament.
Spiritline - Game Day Cheer AIA State Runner Up. Show Cheer 3rd at AIA State. All Girls Stunt 3rd at AIA State. Jazz 3rd at AIA State. Pom 7th at AIA State. Pom 4th at Nationals. Game Day Cheer 4th at Nationals. Jazz 8th at Nationals. Show Cheer 10th at Nationals. Grace Graham earned the AZ Central Sports Awards I am Sport award.
2020-21 Spring Sports Season Re-Cap
Baseball - 9-10 regular season. 14th team in state power rankings. Lost to Mountain Ridge in the 1st Round of State. Carter Richey was named All-Premier Region Offensive Player of the Year. Stephen Hernandez and Luke Hinze were named AIl-Premier Region 1st Team, Cade Lacy, Justin Still, and Zack Agnew were named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Nik Miller and Gavin Noreuswere named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.
Softball - 8-11 regular season. 14th team in state power rankings. Lost to Queen Creek in the 1st Round of State. Noelle Gumm and Autumn Kunze were named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Brianna Mattos, Sara Phillip, and Alexa Ortiz were named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Alyssa Dean and Ashlee Kush were All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.
Boys Tennis - 9-4 regular season. 6th team in state power rankings. Defeated O'Connor in the 1st Round of State. Lost to Pinnacle in the State Quarterfinals. Min Park lost in State Singles Round 1 and was named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Ethan Perovich lost in State Singles Round 1. Tyler Vance/Weston Webb lost in State Doubles Round 1 and were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Luke Ferre/Ram Karuppiah lost in State Doubles Round 1. Jacob Brown was named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.
Girls Tennis - 10-3 regular season. 7th team in state power rankings. Defeated Corona in the 1st Round of State. Lost to Hamilton in the State Quarterfinals. Ashley Wellik lost in State Singles Round 2. Avery Jones lost in State Singles Round 1. Campbell Bueler/Jaiden Colyar lost in State Doubles Round 1. Brooke Newton/Callie Whitney lost in State Doubles Round 1. Campbell Bueler was named All-Premier Region 1st Team Singles and AZ Tennis Coaches Association D1 All-State Honorable Mention. Jaiden Colyar, Ashley Wellik, Callie Whitney were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.
Boys Track - 13th at State. Zach Extine was 3rd in the 110 Hurdles, 5th in the 300 Hurdles, and was named All-Premier Region in the 110 and 300 Hurdles. Austin Hutchings was 6th in the 1600m, 15th in the 800m, 20th in the 3200m and was named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Kolton Coleman was 9th in the Long Jump and was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team Long Jump. Mason Mesias was 9th in the Discus and 19th in the Shot Put. Matthew Camp was 12th in the 800m, 24th in the 3200m, and was named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Wyatt Lewallen was 15th in the Javelin. Dane Kohl was 17th in the Javelin. Sean Flynn was 25th in the 400m. The 4x800 relay team of Hutchings, Camp, Brady Hutchings and Flynn was 4th and were named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. The 4x400 relay team of Flynn, Samuel Ford, Andrew Gural, and Evangelos Sideris was 5th.
Girls Track - 4th at State. Makayla Long was the State Champion in the Shot Put and set the state record at 50'8", the State Champion in the Discus, was named the Arizona Gatorade Player of the Year, was named All-American 1st Team after placing 2nd in the Shot and Discus at the Outdoor Nationals, named All-Premier Region 1st Team in the Shot Put and Discus, and was named to the AZ Central All-Arizona Track and Field Team. Taylor Lovell was the State Runner Up in the 800m, 3rd in the 3200m, 4th in the 1600m, and was named All-Premier Region 1st Team in the 800m, 1600m, and 3200m. Avery Clark was 5th in the High Jump, 6th in the 300 Hurdles, 9th in the 100 Hurdles and was named All-Premier Region 1st Team in the High Jump and 2nd Team in the 300 Hurdles. Kylie Miller was 5th in the 1600m, 7th in the 3200m, 14th in the 800m, and was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team in the 1600m and 3200m. Samantha Rogers was 7th in the Javelin, 12th in the Discus and was named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Kate Miller was 9th in the 1600m, 17th in the 3200m, and was named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Brenna Rodriguez was 11th in the Long Jump. Sara Jones was 14th in the 3200m and 17th in the 1600m. Emma Kozel was 15th in the High Jump. Cynthia Lloyd was 19th in the Triple Jump. The 4x800 relay team of Ky. Miller, Ka. Miller, Jones, and Lovell were State Runner Ups and were named All-Premier Region 1st Team. The 4x400 relay team of Jordan Lahann, Cassidy Little, Sydney Stevens, and Isabella Schaller was 12th.
Beach Volleyball – 11-1 regular season. 2nd team in state power rankings. Defeated Verrado in the 1st Round of State. Defeated Desert Vista in the State Quarterfinals. Lost to O'Connor in the State Semi Finals. Avery Burks/Jordan Suan made it to the State Beach Pairs Quarterfinals. Avery Burks was named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Jordan Suan was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Alyssa Montoya and Ella Rud were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.

Defeated Liberty in the State Quarterfinals. Defeated Brophy in the State Semi Finals. Defeated O'Connor in the State Finals. Gehrig Toman was named All-6A Conference 1st Team, All-Premier Region Player of the Year and was AZ Central Athlete of the Week. Camden Niemann, Dalan Smith, and Jack Stanley were named All-6A Conference 1st Team and All-Premier Region 1st Team. Canyon Smith was named All-6A Conference 2nd Team and All-Premier Region 1st Team. Mark Tomlinson was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Riggs Ellsworth and Cooper Sander were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Ryan Tolman was named All-6A Conference Coach of the Year and All-Premier Region Coach of the Year.
