• 2021-22 Fall Sports Season Re-Cap

    Badminton - 13-1 Regular Season, 2nd Team in State Power Rankings. State Champions. Premier Region Champions. Defeated Xavier in State Round 1, Corona in the State Quarterfinals, Sunnyslope in the State Semi Finals, and Chaparral in the State Finals. Emma Cross/Jayden Montano made it to the State Doubles Semi Finals and were named All-Premier Region 1st Team Doubles. Lauren Faust/Kaylee Ross made it to the State Doubles Quarterfinals and were named All-Premier Region 2nd Team Doubles. Nikhita Jayaraj made it to the State Singles Round 2 and was named All-Premier Region 1st Team Singles.Yeojung Yoo and Morgan Vogt were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Coach Lerina Johnson was named All-Division 1 Coach of the Year, All-Premier Section Coach of the Year, and All-Premier Region Coach of the Year.

    Boys Cross Country - 14th Place at State. Matthew Camp was 14th at State for All-State 2nd Team and was named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Thomas Gauerke was 88th, Sean Flynn was 102nd, Maxwell Waldron was 107th, Timothy Ortiz was 112th, Grant Bergeson was 115th, and Brady Hutchings was 132nd. 

    Girls Cross Country - 5th Place at State. Taylor Lovell was 7th at State for All-State 1st Team and was named All Premier Region Runner of the Year. Alexis Pagel was 18th for All-State 3rd Team and was named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Sara Jones was 23rd and named All-Premier Region 1st Team.  Sydney Stevens was 34th and named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Kristyna Mlejnkova was 61st, Isabella Schaller was 71st. Ella Adams was 98th. 

    Fotball - 3-7 Regular Season, 15th Team in 6A State Power Rankings. Lost to Chaparral in State Round 1. Jackson Lee (Long Snapper) was named All-Premier Region 1st Team Specialists. Trevor Swan (O-Line) was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team Offense. Aiden Herring (D-Line) was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team Defense. Kolton Coleman, Sy Hatch, Adam Knowles, Hunter Martinez, Brody Smith, and Jacob Vasquez were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.  Kolton Cunningham was named National Football Foundation Valley of the Sun Chapter Scholar Athlete Coaches Top 60.  Christopher Snowden was named a National Alliance of African American Athletes Phoenix Chapter Male Scholar Athlete.

    Boys Golf - 10th Place at State. Joe Houghton place 13th at State and was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Kyle Koski was 55th and named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Andrew Fairbanks was 64th and named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Max Betts was 67th. Jake Shank and Chris Lavin competed at State but did not score.

    Girls Golf - 10th Place at State. Gabrielle Cone placed 24th at State and was named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Lili Stutz was 43rd and named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Malia McGilton was 53rd and named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. 

    Boys Swim/Dive - 7th Place at State. Evan Nail was the State Champion in the 200 IM and 100 Backstroke, named All-Premier Region Swimmer of the Year and All-Premier Region 1st Team in both events, was named to the AZ Central All-Arizona Team, and is nominated for AZ Central Swimmer of the Year. Michael Johnson was 7th in the 100 Free and 11th in the 50 Freestyle and named All-Premier Region 1st Team 100 Free. Michael Loughboro was 15th in the 200 IM and 18th in the 100 Backstroke. Jackson Clark was 20th in the 100 Butterfly and 21st in the 200 Freestyle. Matthew Rose was 20th in the 200 Freestyle and 22nd in the 100 Freestyle and was named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. The 400 Freestyle Relay of Nail, Clark, Loughboro and Johnson was 4th and was named All-Premier Region 2nd team. The 200 Freestyle Relay of Nail, Clark, Rose and Johnson was 6th. The 200 Medley Relay of Loughboro, Matthew Pearson, Johnson and Rose was 12th.

    Girls Swim/Dive - 6th Place at State. Amayah Wiley was the State Champion in Dive and was named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Alexia Jackson was 4th in Dive and was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Haley Mueller was 4th in the 100 Backstroke and 11th in the 100 Butterfly and was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team in the 100 Backstroke. Hannah Ernst was 5th in the 100 Backstroke. Chloe Convis was 5th in the 200 IM and 10th in the 100 Breaststroke and was named All-Premier Region 1st Team 200 IM. Kiara Terry was 11th in the 500 Freestyle and was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team in the 500 Free. Mackenzie Hodge was 14th in Dive and was named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Sophia Root was 17th in the 100 Freestyle and 18th in the 200 Freestyle and was named All-Premier Region 1st Team in both. Debra Abbott was 17th in the 50 Freestyle and 22nd in the 100 Butterfly. Izzy Ricciardi was 23rd in the 200 IM and 23rd in the 500 Freestyle and was named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Reese Carpenter was 25th in the 100 Breaststroke and 29th in the 200 IM. Keira Lemon was 29th in the 100 Freestyle.  The 200 Medley Relay was Abbott, Ernst, Convis and Mueller was the State Runner Up and was named All-Premier Region 1st Team. The 200 Freestyle Relay was Abbott, Ernst, Convis and Mueller was 7th. The 400 Freestyle Relay of Root, Terry, Lemon and Audrey Numeron was 14th and was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team.  Coach Stephanie Carrasco was named All-Premier Region Coach of the Year.

    Girls Volleyball -15-2 Regular Season. 3rd team in State Power Rankings. Lost to Queen Creek in State Round 1. Jordan Suan was named All-6A Conference Defensive Player of the Year and All-Premier Region Defensive Player of the Year. Avery Burks was named All-6A Conference 2nd Team, All-Premier Region 1st Team, was named to the AZ Central All-Arizona Team, and is nominated for AZ Central Player of the Year. Layla Handley was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Adi Galvanoni and Mackenzie Ransom were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.

    2021-22 Winter Sports Season Re-Cap

    Boys Basketball - 14-4 regular season. 3rd team in State power rankings. State Champions. Defeated Queen Creek in State Round 1. Defeated Basha in the State Quarterfinals. Defeated Brophy in the State Semi Finals. Defeated Hamilton in the State Finals. Dylan Anderson was named the Arizona Gatorade Player of the Year, AIA All-6A Conference 1st Team, All-Premier Region 1st Team and was named to the AZ Central All-Arizona Basketball Team. Cody Williams was named AIA All-6A Conference Offensive Player of the Year, All-Premier Region Offensive Player of the Year, and was named to the AZ Central All-Arizona Basketball Team. Koa Peat was named AIA All-6A Conference 1st Team, All-Premier Region 1st Team, was named to the AZ Central All-Arizona Honorable Mention, and was named to the Max Preps Freshman All-America 1st Team.  Nolan Brown and Kyle Waters were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Coach Sam Duane was named All-6A Conference and All-Premier Region Coach of the Year.  

    Girls Basketball – 12-6 regular season. 11th team in State power rankings. State Runner Up. Defeated Highland in the State Play-in Game. Defeated Cibola in State Round 1. Defeated Westwood in the State Quarterfinals. Defeated Xavier in the State Semi Finals. Lost to Valley Vista in the State Finals. Khamil Pierre was named AIA All-6A Conference 1st Team, All-Premier Region Player of the Year, was named to the AZ Central All-Arizona Basketball Team, and ranked #87 by ESPN. Jayla Cal was named AIA All-6A Conference 1st Team and All-Premier Region 1st Team. Kira Patel was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team.  Leah Davis and Hannah Strauss were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.

    Boys Soccer - 9-3 regular season. 10th team in State power rankings.  Lost to Maryvale in the State Play-in Game. Cole Wood (Forward) was named AIA All-6A Conference 2nd Team and All-Premier Region 1st Team. Titus Charles (Defense), and Dennis Cloud (Midfield), were named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Caden Dosmann (Forward) was named All-Premier 2nd Team. Colton Dosmann and Luis Hinogiante were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.

    Girls Soccer 10-1-1 regular season. 3rd team in state power rankings. State Runner Up. Premier Region Champions. Defeated Boulder Creek in State Round 1. Defeated Hamilton in the State Quarterfinals. Defeated Desert Vista in the State Semi Finals. Lost to Xavier in the State Finals. Jae Pallas (Defense) was named AIA All-6A Conference 1st Team, All-Premier Region Player of the Year, AZ Central All-Arizona Honorable Mention, and United Soccer Coaches All-State. Siera Herbert (Forward), Lexi Saveski (Goalie), and Sydney Snowden (Defense) were named AIA All-6A Conference 1st Team, All-Premier Region 1st Team, AZ Central All-Arizona Honorable Mention, and United Soccer Coaches All-State. Halle Sellers (Midfield) and Kassi Vigil (Defense) were named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Lilia Besedin (Forward) and Makenna Buist (Midfield) were named All-Premier Region 2nd Team.  Raegan Hussey and Julia Sauter were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.  The team was named a National Top 10 High School Soccer Team - Winter #10 by the United Soccer Coaches.

    Boys Wrestling – 20th at the State Tournament. Andrew Gutierrez (106lb), Ferrin Goldstein (120lb), Ernesto Aparicio (132lb), Jacob Gastley (157lb), Hershal Hall (175lb), and Aiden Goodman (215lb), qualified for the State Tournament. Hersha Hall took 4th place at State and was named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Connor Cochran was named All-Premier Region 1st Team.  Andrew Gutierrez, Ferrin Goldstein, Ernesto Aparicio, Jordan Kimling, Daylon Mauch, and Braidi Glascock were named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Jayce Carder, Jacob Gastley and Aidan Goodman were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.  

    Girls Wrestling – 44th at the State Tournament. Arianna Mauch (152lb - Sectional Champion) took 6th Place at the State Tournament.  Amiya Hernandez (132lb - Sectional Runner Up) qualified for the State Tournament. 

    Spiritline - Game Day Cheer AIA State Champion. Show Cheer AIA Division 1 State Champion.  All Girls Stunt AIA Division 1 State Runner Up. Jazz AIA Open Medium State Champion. Pom 6th at AIA State. Pom 4th at Nationals. Game Day Cheer 3rd at Nationals. Show Cheer 4th at Nationals. Pom 6th at Nationals. Jazz 15th at Nationals.

    2021-22 Spring Sports Season Re-Cap

    Baseball - 9-9 regular season. 10th team in state power rankings. Defeated O'Connor in State Round 1. Defeated Alhambra in State Round 2. Lost to Chandler in State Round 3. Defeated O'Connor in the State Quarterfinal Elimination Game.  Defeated Chandler in the State Semi Final. Lost to Chandler in the State Semi Final Double Elimination. Stephen Hernandez (Pitcher) and Gavin Noreus (Position Player) were named AIl-Premier Region 1st Team. Luke Hinze (Position Player), CJ Snowden (Position Player), and Tyler Thompson (Position Player) were named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Nik Miller and Jeremy Sprague were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.

    Softball - 13-5 regular season. 6th team in state power rankings. Lost to Red Mountian in State Round 1. Lost to Queen Creek in State 1st Round Elimination. Noelle Gumm (Position Player), Amiya Hernandez (Position Player) and Autumn Kunze (Pitcher) were named All-Premier Region 1st Team.  Janai Mathis (Position Player), Sara Phillip (Pitcher), and Alexa Ortiz (Pitcher) were named All-Premier Region 2nd Team.  Ashlee Kush and Zoe Lloyd were All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.

    Boys Tennis - 10-5 regular season. 11th team in state power rankings. Lost to Mountain Ridge in State Round 1.  Tyler Vance lost to Mountain View in State Singles Round 1 and was named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Ethan Perovich/Weston Webb defeated O'Connor in State Doubles Round 1 and lost to Desert Mountain in State Round 2. Weston Webb was named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Ethan Perovich was named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Gabe Taylor/Dallin Welch defeated Cibola in State Doubles Round 1 and lost to Hamilton in State Round 2 and were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.

    Girls Tennis - 11-4 regular season. 7th team in state power rankings. Lost to Rincon/University in State Round 1.  Kourtney Welch defeated Chavez in State Singles Round 1 and lost to Rincon/University in State Round 2 and was named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Callie Whitney lost to Basha in State Singles Round 1 and was named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Sydney Park/Avery Jones defeated Highland in State Doubles Round 1, defeated Hamiton in Round 2 and lost to Chaparral in the Quarterfinals, and were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Grace Brenchley/Kiera Norby lost to Mountain View in State Doubles Round 1. 

    Boys Track - 21st at State. Kellen McConnell and Nathan Jacobson tied for 8th in the Pole Vault and were named All-Premier Region 1st and 2nd Team respectively. Evan Khoo was 10th in the Shot Put and 13th in the Discus and was named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Samuel Ford was 15th in the 200m and 19th in the 400m. Ethan Kahler was 17th in the Pole Vault. De'Merrion Person was 18th in the Long Jump and was named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Matthew Camp was 21st in the 1600m and 24th in the 800m. Mason Mesias was 21st in the Discus. Andrew Gural was 22nd in the 400m. Dane Kohl and Wyatt Lewallen qualified in the Javelin but did not compete. The 4x400 relay team of Camp, Sean Flynn, Ford, and Gural was 5th and named All-Premier Region 1st Team.

    Girls Track - State Champions.  Taylor Lovell was the State Champion in the 3200m, was State Runner Up in the 1600m and 800m and was named All-Premier Region Track Athlete of the Year and All-Premier Region 1st Team in the 800m, 1600m and 3200m. Avery Clark was State Champion in the 300 Hurdles, State Runner up in the 100 Hurdles and the High Jump, and was named All-Premier Region 1st Team in the 100H, 300H, and High Jump. Alexis Pagel was 4th in the 800m, 4th in the 1660m, and 4th in the 3200m and was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team in the 800m and 3200m. Brenna Rodriguez was 4th in the Long Jump, 5th in the Triple Jump, was named All-Premier Region 1st Team in the Triple Jump and 2nd Team in the Long Jump, and AZ Central All-Arizona. Kristyna Mlejnkova was 8th in the 800m. Sydney Stevens was 9th in the 1600m, 14th in the 3200m and 18th in the 800m. Anna Kaup was 9th in the Javelin, competed in the Discus but did not score, and was named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Neaeh Bolt was 11th in the High Jump and was named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Kaytlyn Jackson was 20th in the 100m and 21st in the 200m. Cynthia Lloyd was 22nd in the Triple Jump and 24th in Long Jump. The 4x800 Relay team of Lovell, Mlejnkova, Pagel, and Stevens were the State Champions and named All-Premier Region 1st Team. The 4x400 relay team of Kenna Cassey, Emma LeSueur, Ahsley Sandoval and Sydney Smith were 16th. The 4x100 relay team of Adalynn Buyack, Jackson, Carrington Little, and Rodriguez qualified, but did not finish.  Brian Idleman was named All-Premier Region Coach of the Year.

    Beach Volleyball – 8-4 regular season. 8th team in state power rankings. Defeated Valley Vista in State Round 1. Lost to O'Connor in the State Quarterfinals. Avery Burks/Jordan Suan defeated Mountain View in the State Beach Pairs Round 1, defeated Basha in Round 2 and lost to Xavier in the Quarterfinals. Avery Burks was named All-Premier Region Offensive Player of the Year.  Jordan Suan was named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Madisson Branting and Brynn Davie were named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Reagan Reynolds and Amy Wahlin were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.

    Boys Volleyball – 14-3 regular season. 3rd team in state power rankings. Premier Region Champions. Defeated Liberty in State Round 1. Defeated Chandler in the State Quarterfinals. Lost to Highland in the State Semi Finals. Gehrig Toman was named AIA All-6A Conference 1st Team, All-Premier Region Player of the Year, and AZ Central All-Arizona Honorable Mention. Ty Baumgarth (Middle Blocker) was named AIA All-6A Conference 1st Team, All-Premier Region 1st Team, and AZ Central All-Arizona Honorable Mention. Jace Miller (Hitter), Mark Tomlinson (Setter), and Brody Tyler (Libero) were named All-Premier Region 1st Team.  Jake Andreason and Tyler McBurney were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.
