Welcome!
Hi and welcome to my page! I hope you are able to get a better understanding of who I am as a person and teacher through your reading of this page. I am currently in my 22nd year of teaching, 8th year as a proud Wolf at Chandler High School. I believe wholeheartedly in education and I believe that the only way we can truly grow as individuals is to challenge ourselves and make ourselves uncomfortable. I strive to help my students take risks and test their understanding of the world - this is the only way they'll grow and become strong, independent adults. We will be on this journey together every step of the way & and if at any point you get stuck, reach out and ask for help - I'll always be here!!
Currently, I teach IB Psychology and Psychology 101 (Dual Enrollment). I am also the IB Career Coordinator for Chandler High School. If you are looking for additional information on the IB program, please visit the Chandler High School web page at www.cusd80.com/chs and visit us under Academics. My Education and Professional Background
I attended the University of Arizona for my undergraduate degree where I studied secondary education, political science & psychology. I received my Masters degree in Educational Psychology from Northern Arizona University with an emphasis in Counseling and Human Relations. I taught for 14 years in the Scottsdale Unified School District at Coronado High School but decided I wanted to come closer to home and teach in CUSD! Along with teaching in CUSD, I am also a proud parent of 2 kids that attend schools within the Chandler District. I have taught multiple classes in the Social Studies; American History, World History, AP & on-level Government and Economics, Sociology, Criminology and of course all levels of Psychology. I have served in multiple leadership roles and on various District and state-wide committees in addition to currently serving in an elected position on the AZIBS (Arizona IB Schools) Board.
I believe that as a teacher, we must always continue to study our subject areas and not get stagnant in our profession, so I also take continued education courses to better myself in the profession that I love!
My Educational Philosophy
My Educational Philosophy is simple: I believe that ALL students can learn and ALL students matter! Not every brain is wired the same, so we sometimes need to get creative to figure out how best to teach, inspire and understand.
