All Juniors will take a Civics Test November 13-14, 2024 in their Am/AZ History classes.

New Information for the Class of 2026:

    • Legislation has passed that requires the Class of 2026 and beyond to score 70 or higher on the Civics Assessment.
    • If a student graduates in 2026, and has already taken the Civics Test (and scored 60-69.9%), the student will need to retest and score a 70 out of 100 to meet graduation requirements.

The Class of 2025 (this year's senior class) will still meet graduation requirements with a score of 60 out of 100.

The Civics Assessment is based on questions taken from the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization test (which started in 2017).

Seniors who have not passed or taken the Civics Test will be notified in August 2024 of re-testing dates.

Retesting will take place during Conference Hour in Room C121.

Passing the Civics test is a graduation requirement.

The American Civics Act requires that all Arizona students pass a basic civics test before graduating from high school. It was the first bill Governor Ducey signed, making Arizona the first state in the country to enact such a law.

"There may be a lot of things that Democrats and Republicans disagree on, but educating our students about American civics is something almost everyone can agree is vital."
    -Governor Ducey, February 2017
