    (EVIT)

Chief Hill Learning Academy partners with EVIT to help students earn career and/or college-ready skills.  At Hill, students are informed of EVIT programs and the enrollment process on a quarterly basis.  So, students wishing to attend EVIT need to apply the year before they intend to start EVIT. Students may apply to the EVIT program of choice during their sophomore, junior and/or senior year.  Families are encouraged to visit EVIT.edu or attend the yearly EVIT Expo to learn more about the programs, certification and college credit opportunities available at EVIT.

Transportation is provided to and from EVIT for most programs.  Morning EVIT programs will require students to arrive at Hill earlier than usual to get the AM EVIT bus.   Afternoon EVIT programs will require parental pick up from Hill or the EVIT campus. Campus selection may be determined by program or location preference.  Hill students can discover a career path at EVIT!

Q.) Does EVIT have the same attendance calendar as CUSD?
A.) No, please go to EVIT calendar for more information.

Q.) What is EVIT’s attendance policy?

A.) EVIT Attendance Policy SY 2023-24 : EVIT’s vision is to prepare students for competitive employment. Therefore, it is extremely important that EVIT policy reflects the values and needs of our local employers, who overwhelmingly agree that attendance and punctuality are two of the most important qualities we can teach our students. When addressing absences, Home School Activity (H.S.A.) absences are included in each reference regarding class time missed. In an effort to meet this challenge, EVIT uses the following policy:

    • According to Arizona law, high school students are expected to attend all of their scheduled classes to receive credit. On occasion, absences might occur. Withholding of grades or credit can occur only if the student is absent fifteen (15) or more excused or unexcused days in a semester (includes H.S.A.). If a student under 18 years old is absent for five non-consecutive days (excused/unexcused/ H.S.A.), a truancy letter will be sent home to a parent/guardian. If the minor student is absent for ten (10) days (excused/ unexcused/H.S.A.), a second letter will be sent home to a parent/guardian with a warning that the student’s ability to pass his/her program could be threatened by the student’s lack of hands-on skills/practice time experienced during class. Fifteen (15) absences in a semester (excused/ unexcused/H.S.A.) will result in the student’s status change to audit. In audit status, the student will continue attending class but will not earn credit for the program.

Q.) Can a student enroll at EVIT after they graduate High School?
A.) Yes, if they meet one of the following qualifications.

    1. Senior year they were enrolled at EVIT and wish to complete their last year of a two-year program at EVIT. Talk to your EVIT instructor and counselor about continuation after sr. year.
    2. They are Arizona graduates and in the first year following graduation they wish to enroll via the In-Demand Industry Funding (I-DIF). See Hill counselor or Mr. Jonah Lawrence at EVIT.
    3. An adult wishing to enroll in the Adult EVIT programs will fill out an adult application at EVIT.edu.

Hill Academy expectations for EVIT students

    1. Students attending EVIT must remain on track to graduate. This includes passing CUSD needed exams.  Meet with your counselor if you have questions.

    2. Students need to ride the bus for their first quarter and or if there is an attendance issue.  If a student is allowed to provide their own transportation to and from EVIT, attendance at both campuses can not be an issue or this privilege will be reviewed.

    3. They must submit a transportation request form before they start EVIT or they will not be allowed to ride the bus.

    4. During the CUSD breaks, buses from Hill to and from EVIT will be in operation.  Students are expected to attend EVIT during the CUSD intercession.  CUSD intersession will not be considered a home school excused absence.  Please review the CUSD and EVIT calendars.

    5. Students must pass classes at both campuses and may be dropped from EVIT if they are placed in an audit status.

Check out the EVIT EXPO on Saturday - January 25, 2025 from 9-1pm at the Main campus.
