2022-23 Fall Sports Season Re-Cap
Badminton - 14-0 Regular Season, 1st Team in state power rankings. State Runner Up. Premier Region Champions. Defeated Westwood in State Round 1, Xavier in the State Quarterfinals, Sunnyslope in the State Semi Finals, and lost to Hamilton in the State Finals. Robyn Bui/Amiya Hernandez were the State Doubles Runner Up. Hernandez was named All-Premier Region 1st Team Singles. Bui was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Vienna Morley/Oanh Le made it to the State Doubles Semi Finals and were named All-Premier Region 2nd Team Doubles.Emma James made it to the State Singles Semi Finals, was named All-Premier Region 1st Team Singles, and is a finalist for AIA Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Talisa Chafey was named All-Premier Region 1st Team Singles. Alexa Englert and Tina Nguyen were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.
Boys Cross Country - 17th Place at State. Roan Milner was 47th at State and was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Thomas Gauerke was 87th, Grant Bergeson was 90th, Maxwell Waldron was 98th, Joshua Faba was 100th, Timothy Ortiz was 101st, and Tra Chacon was 108th.
Girls Cross Country - 4th Place at State. Isabella Schaller was 13th at State for All-State 2nd Team and was named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Alexis Pagel was 16th for All-State 2nd Team and named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Malia Salcido was 27th and named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Katelyn Munoz was 43rd and named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Sara Jones was 80th, Ella Adams was 88th, and Cecilia Molovinsky was 99th.
Football - 4-6 Regular Season, 15th Team in 6A State Power Rankings. Lost to Highland in State Round 1. Aiden Herring (D-Line) was named All-Premier Region 1st Team Defense and National Football Foundation Valley of the Sun Chapter Honorable Mention Top Athlete. Landon Sabetta (Long Snapper) was named All-Premier Region 1st Team Specialists. Kyle Bartnik (Wide Receiver) was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team Offense. CJ Snowden (Defensive Back) was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team Defense, National Football Foundation Valley of the Sun Chapter Honorable Mention Top Athlete, and National Alliance for African American Athletes Phoenix Chapter Outstanding Scholar Athlete. Maddox Ford (Linebacker), and Gage Hatch (Linebacker) were named All-Premier Region 2nd Team Defense. Don Tinsely (Kick Returner) was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team Specialists. Jack Amer, Brock Ford, Andrew Guild, Bo Hall, Marc O'Bannon, and TJ Thompson were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Seth Graham was named National Alliance for African American Athletes Phoenix Chapter Outstanding Scholar Athlete for the Class of 2026.
Boys Golf - 8th Place at State. Joe Houghton placed 16th at State and was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Kyle Koski was 18th and named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Chris Lavin was 20th and was named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Luke Bratetic was 69th. Maxwell Betts was 71st and named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention .
Girls Golf - 7th Place at State. Gabrielle Cone placed 13th at State and was named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Lili Stutz was 33rd and named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Jada Franco was 35th and named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Bella Keselman was 57th and named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Ella Hanks competed at State, but did not score and was named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.
Boys Swim/Dive - Did not place at State. Matthew Johnson was 32nd in the 100 Fly and named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. The 200 Free Relay of Dayne Christensen, Johnson, Matthew Pearson, and Dylan Sategna was 17th. The 400 Freestyle Relay of Christensen, Johnson, Pearson, and Sategna was 20th. The 200 Medley Relay of Christensen, Johnson, Pearson, and Sategna was 22nd. Dylan Sategna was named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.
Girls Swim/Dive - 8th Place at State. Hannah Ernst was State Runner Up in the 100 Backstroke, 13th in the 200 IM, and named All-Premier Region 1st Team in the 100 Back. Haley Mueller was 4th in the 100 Backstroke, 8th in the 100 Butterfly, and named All-Premier Region 2nd Team in the 100 Back. Samantha Hill was 4th in Dive and named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Sharlotta Mozes was 6th in Dive and named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Kiara Terry was 15th in the 500 Free and 21st in the 200 Free. Reese Carpenter was 15th in the 100 Breaststroke and 30th in the 200 IM. Izzy Ricciardi was 16th in the 500 Free, 22nd in the 200 IM and named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Sophia Root was 19th in the 200 Free and 30th in the 100 Free. Kiera Lemon was 20th in the 100 Breaststroke and 27th in the 100 Free. Debra Abbott was 24th in the 200 IM. Riley Beall was 32nd in the 100 Backstroke. The 200 Medley Relay of Abbott, Ernst, Lemon and Mueller was 5th and was named All-Premier Region 1st Team. The 400 Free Relay of Abbott, Ernst, Lemon and Mueller was 11th. The 200 Free Relay of Abbott, Beall, Ricciardi and Root was 14th.
Girls Volleyball -14-3 Regular Season. 4th team in state power rankings. Defeated Desert Vista in State Round 1, O'Connor in the State Quarterfinals, and lost to Corona in the Semi Finals. Avery Burks was named All-6A Conference 1st Team, All-Premier Region Offensive Player of the Year, and was named to the AZ Central All-Arizona Volleyball Team and nominated for Player of the Year. Kenna Cogill (Hitter) was named All-Premier Region 1st Team and AZ Central All-Arizona Volleyball Team Honorable Mention. Reese Biesemyer (Hitter) was named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Amy Wahlin (Hitter), Reagon Reynolds (Setter) and Braelyn Woodworth (Libero) were named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Kiana Landers and Kate Wagner were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.

Koa Peat was named the Arizona Gatorade Player of the Year, Arizona Max Preps Player of the Year, Max Preps Sophomore All-American Team, AZ Preps.com Co-Player of the Year, AIA All-6A Conference Player of the Year, All-Premier Region Player of the Year, was named to the AZ Central All-Arizona Basketball Team, won AZ Central Basketball and Overall Male Player of the Year, and won a gold medal with the USA U16 Basketball Team. Cody Williams is a McDonald's All-American, was named to the Naismith All-American Team, was named to the 2023 USA Men's Nike Hoop Summit roster, AZ Preps.com Co-Player of the Year, AIA All-6A Conference Offensive Player of the Year, All-Premier Region Offensive Player of the Year, was named to the AZ Central All-Arizona Basketball Team, and is nominated for Player of the Year. Ben Egbo was named AIA All-6A Conference Defensive Player of the Year, All-Premier Region Defensive Player of the Year, was named to the AZ Central All-Arizona Honorable Mention. D'Andre Harrison and Barron Silsby were named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Nolan Brown and Jonas Cederlind were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Khamil Pierre was named the Arizona Gatorade Player of the Year, was nominated for McDonald's All-American, has her jersey hung in the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame, AIA All-6A Conference 1st Team, All-Premier Region Player of the Year, was named to the AZ Central All-Arizona Basketball Team, and was nominated for Player of the Year. Lauren Crocker and Halena Hill were named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Jayla Cal and Sage Henry were named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Tyler Bosi was named AIA All-6A Conference Defensive Player of the Year, All-Premier Region Defensive Player of the Year, and was named AZ Central All-Arizona Soccer Honorable Mention. Hudson Deutsch (Forward) was named AIA All-6A Conference 1st Team, All-Premier Region 1st Team, was named to the AZ Central All-Arizona Soccer Team, and was nominated for Player of the Year. Ella Griffin (Forward), Raegan Hussey (Midfielder), Lexi Saveski (Goalie), Cora Still (Defender), and Sydney Snowden (Defender) were named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Saydie Herbert and Shayla Hunt were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.
Boys Wrestling – 13th at the State Tournament. Sectional Runner Up. Maximilian Garibay (106lb), Andrew Gutierrez (113lb), Caden Briquelet (120lb), Ferrin Goldstein (132lb), Jayden Kimling (144lb), Jordan Kimling (150lb), Aidan Goodman (175lb), Jacob Gastley (190lb - Sectional Champion), Bo Hall (215lb), and Braidi Glascock (285lb) qualified for the State Tournament. Andrew Gutierrrez took 4th place at State and was named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Maxilmilian Garibay took 5th place at State and was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Bo Hall took 6th at State and was named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Jordan Kimling and Jacob Gastley were named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Caden Briquelet, Ferrin Goldstein, Jayden Kimling, and Aidan Goodman were named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Connor Cochran and Braidi Glascock were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.
Girls Wrestling – 36th at the State Tournament. Arianna Mauch (152lb - Sectional Runner Up) took 3rd Place at the State Tournament. Amiya Hernandez (132lb - Sectional Champion) qualified for the State Tournament.

Pierre Foster was 15th in the High Jump. Ethan Kahler was 15th in the Pole Vault. Chris-Day Kalu-Benjamin was 21st in the Shot Put. Shane Ellard qualified in the Pole Vault but did not clear a height. The 4x800 relay team of Grant Bergeson, Brady Hutchings, Bennet Kaup, and Ran Milner was 9th. The 4x400 relay team of Ford, Evangelos Sideris, Sage Spillsbury, and John Yoo was 11th. The 4X100 relay team of Nathan Duerkesen, Eli Mesa, Joshua Weatherspon and Elisha Wells was 15th.60th at the State Meet. Nathan Jacobson placed 7th in the Pole Vault. The 4x400 relay team of Maclane Clark, LeSueur, Lovell, and Ashley Sandoval was 13th.
