• 2023-24 Fall Sports Season Re-Cap

    Badminton - 10-4 Regular Season, 5th Team in state power rankings. Defeated Westwood in State Round 1, lost to Desert Vista in the State Quarterfinals. Robyn Bui/Alexa Englert made it to the Quarterfinals of State Doubles and were named All-Premier Region 2nd Team Doubles. Ryleigh Beitler made it to the Quarterfinals of State Singles and was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team Singles. Kylie O'Neil and Tina Nguyen were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. 

     

    Boys Cross Country - 14th Place at State. Sectional Runner Up. Grant Bergeson was 27th at State and was named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Joshua Faba was 50th and was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Bennett Kaup was 57th and was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Roan Milner was 101st, Caleb Faba was 115th, Allden Buyack was 116th, and Derek Wong was 129th.

     

    Girls Cross Country - 3rd Place at State. Sectional Champions. Sara Jones was 8th at State for All-State 2nd Team and was named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Malia Salcido was 19th for All-State 2nd Team and named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Reegan Ankenbauer was 30th and named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Katelyn Munoz was 34th and named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Danika Torres was 39th, Ava Withem was 44th, and Ella Adams was 55th.

     

    Flag Football - 2-10 Regular Season, 23rd Team in 6A State Power Rankings. Kylee Wick (P) was named All-6A Conference 1st Team and All-Premier Region 1st Team. Chloe Beal (DB/LB), Gwenyth Scheurn (WR), and Peyton Tanghe (DB/LB) were named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Taylor Hinton (PR), Eden Myers (DB/LB) and Alexa Xenikakis (WR) were named All-Premier Region 2nd Team.  Kenal Conner and Joelle Stanford were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.

     

    Football - 7-3 Regular Season, 6th Team in 6A State Power Rankings. AIA Sportsmanship Award. Defeated Mountain Pointe in State Round 1. Lost to Saguaro in the State Quarterfinals. Kolton Coleman (WR) and Noah Watson (OL) were named All-6A Conference Honorable Mention and All-Premier Region 1st Team. Maddox Ford (LB), Nathan Lauritzen (LS), Colten Swanson (DL), Don Tinsley (RB) were named All-Premier Region 1st Team. James Dean (K), Gage Hatch (LB), Chris Kalu-Benjamin (DL), Jayden Kimling (DB), Gunner Phelps (OL), and LJ Walker (KR) were named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Ryder Brown, Bo Hall, Hayden Moon, Noah Pinckard, Jackson Sands, and Diesel Taylor were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Devin Sarpy, Seth Graham and Jacoby Franklin were named a Phoenix Chapter of the National Alliance of African American Athletes Scholar Athlete of the Year.

     

    Boys Golf - 7th Place at State. Joe Houghton placed 5th at State and was named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Ethan Butters placed 10th and was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Kyle Koski was 53rd and named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Maxwell Betts was 57th and named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Luke Bratetic was 61st. 

     

    Girls Golf - 4th Place at State. Gabrielle Cone placed 10th at State and was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Makaleigh Churan was 30th and named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Harper Mowry was 35th and named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Bella Keselman was 42nd and named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Urban Winters and Lily Wirth competed at State, but did not score.

     

    Boys Swim/Dive - 31st Place at State. Matthew Johnson was 18th in the 100 Fly and named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Alex Gonzales was 27th in the 100 Breaststroke and was named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. The 200 Medley Relay of Austin Clouse, Gonzales, Johnson, and Evan Magana was 16th. The 200 Free Relay of Gonzales, Johnson, Magana, and Jonah Welsh was 19th. The 400 Freestyle Relay of Clouse, Gonzales, Johnson, and Magana was 19th. 

     

    Girls Swim/Dive - 17th Place at State. Haley Mueller was the State Runner Up in the 100 Backstroke, 8th in the 100 Butterfly, and named All-Premier Region 1st Team in the 100 Back. Elizabeth Ray was 14th in the 200 Free and named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Riley Beall was 23rd in the 50 Free, 26th in the 100 Back, and named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Danica Kunz was 28th in the 100 Butterfly and named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. The 200 Medley Relay of Alexandra Bacyznski, Beall, Mueller and Elizabeth Ray was 12th. The 400 Free Relay of Bacyznski, Beall, Mueller, and Ray was 18th. The 200 Free Relay of Bacyznski, Kunz, Avery Lindstrom and Ray was 20th. 

     

    Girls Volleyball - 12-5 Regular Season. 7th team in State Power Rankings. State Runner Up. Defeated Valley Vista in State Round 1, Xavier in the State Quarterfinals, Corona in the Semi Finals, and lost to O'Connor in the Finals.  Kenna Cogill (Hitter) was named All-6A Conference 1st Team, All-Premier Region Player of the Year, and AZ Central All-Arizona. Avery Stones (Hitter) was named All-6A Conference 1st Team, and AZ Central All-Arizona Honorable Mention. All-Premier Region 1st Team. Lily LaFlesch (Libero) was named All-6A Conference 2nd Team and All-Premier Region 1st Team. Ireland Avalos (Setter) and Reese Biesemyer (Hitter) were named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Nicole Kim and Kate Wagner were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.

    Boys Basketball - 13-5 regular season. 1st team in Open and 6A state power rankings. Premier Region Champion. State Open Division Champions. Defeated Willow Canyon in Open State Round 1. Defeated Deer Valley in Open State Round 2. Defeated Brophy in the Open State Quarterfinals. Defeated Basha in the Open State Semi Finals. Defeated Millennium in the Open State Finals. Koa Peat was named Arizona Gatorade Player of the Year, Arizona Max Preps Player of the Year, All-6A Conference Player of the Year, All-Premier Region Player of the Year, AZ Central All-Arizona, and won a gold medal with the USA U16 Basketball Team. D'Andre Harrison was named All-6A Conference 1st Team, All-Premier Region 1st Team, and AZ Central All-Arizona Honorable Mention. Nolan Brown was named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Barron Silsby was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Dominic Avalos and Don Tinsley were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Jeffrey Nwalor was named a Phoenix Chapter of the National Alliance of African American Athletes Scholar Athlete of the Year. Coach Sam Duane was named National Association of Basketball Coaches Outstanding High School Coach of the Year, All-6A Conference, and All-Premier Region Coach of the Year.  

    Girls Basketball 8-10 regular season. 15th team in 6A state power rankings. 6A State Runner Up. Defeated Chandler in 6A State Round 1. Defeated Sunnyside in 6A State Quarterfinals. Defeated Chavez in the 6A State Semi Finals. Lost to O'Connor in the 6A State Finals. Sage Henry was named All-Premier Region 1st Team and AZ Central All-Arizona Honorable Mention. Bella Burcar was named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Novelle McQuiston was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Maci Hess and Isabella Ivy were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.  

     

    Boys Soccer - 9-2-1 regular season. 4th team in state power rankings. Premier Region Champions. State Champions. Defeated Basha in State Round 1. Defeated Sunnyslope in State Quarterfinals. Defeated Mesa in the State Semi Finals. Defeated San Luis in the State Finals. Carson Pridie was named Arizona Gatorade Soccer Player of the Year, All-6A Conference Player of the Year, All-Premier Region Player of the Year, and AZ Central All-Arizona. Aiden Yen was named All-6A Conference 1st Team and All-Premier Region Offensive Player of the Year. Caden Dosmann (Forward), Tyler Haren (Defense) were named All-6A Conference and All-Premier Region 1st Team. Blake Rekuc (Defense) was named All-6A Conference 2nd Team and All-Premier Region 1st Team. Jaymis Brown (Forward), Brody Donovan (Midfield), Olaf Jurczykowski (Midfield), and Jacoby Franklin (Defense) were named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Mac Bowers and Ronak Bhatia were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Coach Jason Berg was named All-6A Conference and All-Premier Region Coach of the Year.     

     

    Girls Soccer - 11-0-1 regular season. 1st team in state power rankings. Premier Region Champions. Defeated Red Mountain in State Round 1. Lost to Hamilton in State Quarterfinals. Sydney Snowden was named All-6A Conference Defensive Player of the Year, All-Premier Region Offensive Player of the Year, and AZ Central All-Arizona. Saydie Herbert (Forward) was named All-6A Conference 1st Team, All-Premier Region 1st Team, and AZ Central All-Arizona. Joliye Brass (Midfield) was named All-6A Conference 2nd Team and All-Premier Region 1st Team. Rylee Hatcher (Midfield) and Mia Adams (Defense) were named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Raegan Hussey and Trinity Lujan were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. 

     

    Boys Wrestling – 14th at the State Tournament. Maximilian Garibay (106lb), Ferrin Goldstein (132lb), Cameron Phipps (144lb - Sectional Runner Up), Jayden Kimling (157lb), Nathan Lauritzen (175lb), Ethan Austin (190lb - Sectional Runner Up), Bo Hall (215lb - Sectional Runner Up), and Braidi Glascock (285lb - Sectional Champion) qualified for the State Tournament. Jayden Kimling took 4th place at State and was named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Garibay, Cash LaFlesch (113lb), Goldstein, Lucky LaFlesh (138lb), and Hall were named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Austin, Lauritzen, and Phipps were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.  

     

    Girls Wrestling – 9th at the State Tournament. Arianna Mauch (165lb - Sectional Champion) was the State Runner Up, was named All-Premier Region 1st team and AZ Central All-Arizona Honorable Mention. Addison Palmer (100lb - Sectional Champion) took 3rd place at the State Tournament and was named All-Premier Region 1st team. Paige Hedeen (126lb) and Maclayne Justus (138lb - Sectional Runner Up) qualified for the state tournament and were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Sephora Scarlett was named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.

     

    Spiritline - Pom Small Jazz Open State Champion. Show Cheer and Game Day AIA Division 1 State Runner Up.  Pom 5th Place at AIA State. Game Day 4th at Nationals. Show Cheer 5th at Nationals.  Pom and Jazz 12th at Nationals.

     

    Unified Sports - Football, Soccer, and Basketball had undefeated seasons.

Lost to Liberty in State Round 1. Lost to Red Mountain in State Elimination Round 1. Ethan Miller (Position Player) was named AIl-Premier Region 1st Team. Max DeFrancesco (Position Player) and Dominic Jochumsen (Pitcher) were named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Tyler Miller and Luke Witte were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.  
     
    Softball - 7-11 regular season. 13th team in state power rankings. Lost to Corona in the State Play In Game. Rachel Connors was All-6A Conference 2nd Team and All-Premier Region 1st Team. Sienna Kunze (Position Player) was named All-Premier Region 1st Team.  Mckenzye Boblitt (Position Player), Braylee Harder (Position Player) and Sara Phillip (Pitcher) were named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Brynlee Brassfield and Raegyn Davis were All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.
     
    Boys Tennis - 11-3 regular season. 4th team in state power rankings. Defeated to Marana in State Round 1.  Defeated Rincon/University in the State Quarterfinals. Lost to Brophy in the State Semi Finals. Dallin Welch made it to the Quarterfinals of State Singles and was All-Premier Region Singles 1st Team. Thomas Ray made it to the 2nd Round of State Singles and was named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Welch/Ray were named All-Premier Section Doubles Players of the Year. Jensen Holbrook/Gabe Taylor made it to the 1st Round of State Doubles and were named All-Premier 1st Team. Evan Martin/Jackson Monroe made it to the 1st Round of State Doubles and were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.  Coach John Waltz was named All-Premier Section Coach of the Year.
     
    Girls Tennis - 5-9 regular season. 15th team in state power rankings. Lost to Xavier in State Round 1. Emma Kaufman-Warner/Kiera Norby made it to the 2nd Round of State Doubles. Norby was named All-Premier Region Singles 1st Team. Mira Johns, Kaufman-Warner, and Bella Taylor were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.   
     
    Boys Track - 11th at 6A Division State. Jaymis Brown was the Divisional runner up in the Long Jump and placed 11th in the Triple Jump. Chris-Day Kalu-Benjamin was the Divisional runner up in the Shot Put and placed 18th in the Discus. Shane Ellard placed 4th in the Pole Vault. Hayden Moon placed 6th in the Javelin. Pierre Foster placed 11th in the High Jump and 20th in the Long Jump. Sage Spilsbury placed 13th in the 400m. Benett Kaup placed 14th in the 800m.  Ethan Kahler was 15th in the Pole Vault. Grant Bergeson placed 18th in the 1600m and 19th in the 800m. John Cleary was 20th in the Javelin. The 4X100 relay team of Oluwatoni Adigun, Vaun Patterson, Elisha Wells and John Yoo placed 13th. The 4x800 relay team of Grant Bergeson, Bennet Kaup, Roan Milner and Derek Wong placed14th. 
    21st at the State Meet. Jaymis Brown was the 3rd in the Long Jump. Shane Ellard placed 7th in the Pole Vault. Hayden Moon placed 7th in the Javelin. Chris-Day Kalu-Benjamin was 15th in the Shot Put. Pierre Foster qualified in the High Jump but did not compete.
     
    Girls Track - 13th at 6A Division State. Sara Jones placed 3rd in the 1600m, 3rd in the 3200m, and 15th in the 800m. Kathleen Farley placed 8th in the High Jump and 22nd in the 300 Hurdles. Maclane Clark placed 10th in the 100 Hurdles and 11th in the 300 Hurdles. Savannah Richter placed 10th in the Triple Jump. Linnea Helterbran placed 16th in the Shot Put. Danica Torres placed 16th in the 800m. Malia Salcido placed 23rd in the 800m and 24th 3200m. The 4x800 Relay team of Jones, Katie Munoz, Malia Salcido and Danica Torres was 4th. The 4x400 Relay team of Farley, Jilian Jones, Emma LeSueur, and Sydney Smith placed 9th. 
    21st at the State Meet. Sara Jones was 4thth in the 1600m. Kathleen Farley placed 14th in the High Jump. The 4x800 Relay team of Jones, Katie Munoz, Malia Salcido and Danica Torres was 4th. The 4x400 Relay team of Farley, Jilian Jones, Emma LeSueur, and Sydney Smith placed 12th
     
    Beach Volleyball – 4-8 regular season. 21st team in state power rankings. Did not qualify for the state tournament. Liliana LaFlesch was named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Kenenia Torres and Alyssa Wurth were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.

Everett Wagner was named All-Premier Region 1st Team.  Greyson Carter and Tyler Mesias were named All-Premier Region All-Premier Region 2nd Team.  Braden Breinholt and Tate Higgins were named All-Premier Region All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.
