Students from the Chandler High swim & dive and wrestling teams visited Frye to read with second graders during Read Across America Week.

Frye Elementary appreciates bus driver Bro Matthew. He greets students and staff with a smile every single day! He is kind, and compassionate and truly shows his passion for his job and love for the students. Not only does he provide students with a safe ride to and from school, but he also spends his break bringing lunch to "his" students to enjoy together! Thank you, Bro Matthew, for all you do for Chandler Unified School District, we appreciate you!

Congratulations to Frye 6th grade teacher Angelica Abbey who was named a winner in the Walt Disney World Resort 50th anniversary celebration! From their website: "To recognize exceptional teachers who are passionate about using the tool of imagination in their classroom, we're inviting 50 deserving teachers who reflect the creativity and imagination of Walt Disney to attend a one-of-a-kind teacher event. Winners will participate in a half-day inspiration session with Disney leaders and storytellers, gaining key insights and ideas that can be taken back to the classroom. They will also receive an exclusive inside look at the reimagined Disney Imagination Campus workshops reflecting curriculum in Science & Technology, Arts & Humanities, Leadership & Innovation, and Performing Arts. And, of course, they will experience all the magic of the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary celebration!"

Congratulations to Frye Elementary technology teacher Heidi Gass who won the Apple Achievement Award, Ed Rockland who was named the Outstanding Volunteer (posthumously), and sixth grader Tayshawn Jackson who is the Superintendent Citizenship winner for 2021. Read their stories here!

Frye Elementary was chosen as symposium stop for a Leader in Me Conference during their Leadership Day on Feb. 26. Out of all the schools in the valley Frye was chosen as one of the 5 stops.

Superintendent's Student Citizenship Award winner: Sarah Ramirez is a model student and leader for her classmates and peers, while always going above and beyond in all of her endeavors. Sarah is involved with Student Council. She has many responsibilities both inside and outside the classroom, for she always puts others before herself. She has many goals and continually strives to be the best student she can be. We are all so proud, congratulations Sarah!

Frye Elementary teacher Angelica Abbey has challenged her sixth graders to read 40 books of different genres this school year. Alexander is at 37! She has many students who have read at least 20 and many that have read ten more books then they did last year!

Frye Elementary running club students participated in their first race recently. Eleven students placed, and a pair of twins tied for the same place.

The Frye PTO donated two bikes to raffle on the 100th day of school! At recess, students had to run laps to earn tickets to be entered in the raffle which was led by Coach P. (Jaime Pagliarulo).

Third graders at Frye became geologist and studied minerals. They had to do a streak test to find the hardness of each mineral.

Sonia Hernandez's 1st grade class starts their day by the students welcoming each other. They get to choose how they are greeted, and one student is designated to greet them at the door every morning.

Congratulations to Jose Molina whose Lions Club International Peace Poster Contest entry was selected as the school winner for Frye Elementary. For over 30 years, Lions clubs around the globe have sponsored this international art contest to give children everywhere the chance to express their visions of peace and inspire the world through art and creativity. Audrey was awarded a certificate and cash prize from the Sun Lakes Lion's Club, sponsored by Intel.

Crafco, as a part of United Way, surprised second grade teacher Emilirose Robinson with class supplies and a backpack filled with school supplied for each student. The supplies for the classroom included a color printer, laminator, and several books for her class library.

Angelica Abbey's 6th graders went "Math or Treating" today! Kids got to choose the review math problem, and earn whichever prize it corresponded with!

Chandler High students in the Theater Bookends show came to Frye Elementary and put on an amazing performance for the kindergarten through 3rd grades. Student actors acted out scenes from several popular children's books.

Frye Elementary had a special guest appearance for their weekly Frye-day Recess Dance Party. Third grader DJ Dayne Marshmello took the stage and entertained the audience full of students and staff!

Actress Busy Philips started a campaign to fulfill Amazon classroom wish list requests from ten teachers across the nation. Frye 6th grade teacher Angelica Abbey was the tenth teacher selected! She was featured on Philips' social media in addition to receiving $300 in Amazon gift cards and having her Amazon wish list filled. The City of Chandler presented a water conservation assembly for Frye's 2nd-4th grade students. Students learned the importance of conserving water, especially because we live in a desert.

Students in Mrs. Abbey and Ms. Ray's class practiced fractions, percents and decimals with Skittles! It was engaging lesson in math!

Miss Abigail Bligh and her 5th and 6th Grade CASE students implemented a Coffee Cart on Fridays for the staff at Frye. The students work on life skills and social skills by preparing the orders and delivering the coffee to staff members. This program empowers the students and has added a new and fun aspect to the amazing community the staff and students have created at Frye Elementary.

Frye Elementary kindergarten students used the inquiry process to formulate questions on how bubbles moved differently when they came from a bubble machine or by a person blowing through a wand. It was followed up by a writing activity. The activity also was part of a celebration of the 25th day of kindergarten.
