Spring Sports State Tournament Re-Cap Girls Softball - 13-6, 17th ranked team in power points, won first round state playoff game against Corona del Sol, lost second round to #1 ranked Mountain Ridge. Jillian Leslie was named to the All-Arizona Division 1 Second Team (AZ Republic), the AIA All-Division Second Team and the AIA All-Section (II) First Team. Laynee Gomez was named to the AIA All-Division Second Team and the AIA All-Section (II) First Team. Brittany Hopper was named to the AIA All-Section (II) Second Team.Boys Baseball - Austin Bull was named to the AIA All-Section (II) Second Team.Boys Tennis - State qualifiers: Nick Copic – Singles, Samuel Lin/Austin Stradling - DoublesGirls Tennis - State qualifiers: Ally Shibel - Singles, Gia Veloria/Ashley Sun - DoublesBoys Track - State qualifiers: 100M - Terran Blanchard (19th), 200M/400M - Jordan Carder (17th/11th), 800M - Cade Burks (11th), 1600M/3200M - Jacob Siwek (18th/24th), 110H/300H - Taelon Parson (4th/14th), 4x100R - Blanchard, Carder, Parson, Jackson Spilsbury (4th), 4x400R - Carder, Parson, Justin Rodriguez, Spilsbury (10th)
Girls Track - State qualifiers: Triple Jump - Alana Fallon (7th), Pole Vault - Angie Prakelt (20th), Long Jump - Alyssa Yanish (23rd)Boys Volleyball - 16-2, 10th ranked team in power point (highest in CUSD), won first round state playoff game against Cienega, won second round game against Rincon, lost in the quarterfinals to #2 ranked Highland. Coach Brian Pomerantz was named ALL-CUSD Coach of the Year and Mitch Harris was named ALL-CUSD Player of the Year and First Team All-Arizona (AZ Republic). Jalen Cross was named to the AIA All-Section (III) First Team and Alex Berghorst was named to the AIA All-Section (III) Second Team.*For all of the spring season's results click https://www.cusd80.com/Page/20711 choose Spring Sports.Winter Sports State Tournament Re-CapGirls Soccer – 9-2-1, 8th ranked team in power points (highest CUSD team finisher), won first round state playoff game to Millennium HS, lost second round to #1 ranked Pinnacle. 1st Team All-Sectional Players were Ansley Warner (forward), Brittany Swanson (Defender), Samantha DeMarco (Goalie). 2nd Team All-Sectional Player was Seana Saladrigas (Midfielder). Samantha DeMarco was also selected to the 1st Team All-State Soccer as a goalie for Division I.
Wrestling - State Medalists were Arch Ratliff, 4th place at 120lbs, and Justin Parada, 6th place at 145lbs. Other state participants were Logan Arredondo, Aaron Ratliff, DJ Serrano and Deano Motes.*For all of the winter season's results click https://www.cusd80.com//site/Default.aspx?PageID=20711 and choose Winter Sports.Fall Sports State Tournament Re-CapBadminton – 13-3, 7th ranked team in power points (highest CUSD team finisher), lost in the first round state playoffs to Chaparral. Doubles team of Jenna Reynolds and Rebecca Aguallo made it to the 4th round and the team of Angela McCay and Madison LeFleur made it to the second round. Singles player Christina Celaya made it to the 3rd round of the state tournament. Christina was also voted the Division 1, Section 2 Player of the Year. Coach Lerina Johnson was voted as the Division 1 State Coach of the Year as well as the Section 2 Coach of the Year.Boys Cross Country – 2nd at the city meet (3 All-CUSD and All-City team members finishing 1st, 2nd and 3rd), 7th at the sectional, 12th at state (highest CUSD team finisher), Gunnar Albrecht placed 19th for 3rd team All-State and Cade Burks was the top scoring freshman out of all divisions (24th overall).Football – 7-4, ranked 10th in power points, lost in the first round of state playoffs to Chaparral. Taleon Parson was named AZ Central All-State Division 2 Honorable Mention, National Football Foundation Scholar Athlete and AIA All-Section Honorable Mention. Kenny Lewis was named AZ Central All-State Division 2 Honorable Mention and AIA All-Section 2nd Team. Gunner Smith was named AZ Central All-State Division 2 Honorable Mention and AIA All-Section 2nd Team Honorable Mention. Logan Arredondo was named AIA All-Section 1st Team. Reggie Blader, Tony Contreras, Trye Hatch and Marcus Pane were named AIA All-Section 2nd Team. Mikey Aguirre, Nick Brickous, Mitch Harris, Kyle Huckaby, Deano Moates, Justin Ravsten and Jackson Spilsbury were named AIA All-Section Honorable Mention. Austin Nightingale was named AZ Central All-State Division 2 Honorable Mention.Boys Golf – 4th place at state (highest CUSD team finisher), Brandon Carlson tied for 8th place individual, Jerod Alleman tied for 13th place individual.
Boys Swim – 28th at state, Cody Stalcup finished 9th in the 100 yd free and the team of Sam Morton, Justin Dawson, Jake Perrine and Cody Stalcup finish 15th in the 200 free relay.Girls Swim/Dive – 27th at state, Raeven Richarson 6th in the 100 yd breaststroke, Abigail Whitlock placed 17th at state dive.
