    Perry High School New Girls Basketball Coach - Brock Kearsley

     

    Perry High School welcomes new girls basketball coach, Brock Kearsley. Coach Kearsley was born and raised in Gresham, Oregon. He started his coaching career at Western Oregon University in 1998. At Western Oregon he was a graduate assistant for two years for the Western Oregon Women's Basketball Program. In 2001 Coach Kearsley moved to Phoenix, AZ where he worked at Queen Creek Elementary as a physical education teacher and assistant girls basketball coach for Queen Creek High School Girls Basketball program for six years. In 2007, he became the Head Girls Basketball Coach at Apache Junction High School and also taught physical education at Apache Junction High School. In 2010, Coach Kearsley was voted Desert Sky Region Coach of the Year.

    Coach Kearsley and his wife Angela have three children. Austin (9), Brody (7), and Colby (2). He and his family are excited to be Pumas! Coach Kearsley will also be teaching physical education and can be reached at kearsley.brock@cusd80.com.


    Perry High School New Girls Soccer Coach - Jason Dunn

     

    Perry’s newest Varsity Soccer Girls coach, Jason Dunn, will bring ample coaching and playing experience to the team. After playing at the collegiate level for University of Washington and Seattle Pacific University, Jason Dunn continued his soccer career with the U.S. National team and professionally. Coach Dunn played for the U.S. National “A” Team and the U.S. National “B” Team for the duration of 1991-1996. Jason was part of the U.S. Open Men’s National Championship Team as well as won the NCAA Championship in 1993. Afterwards, he played professional soccer for nine years including teams such as the Seattle Sounders, Harrisburg Heat, and Wichita Wings. As a professional player Coach Dunn helped his teams reach three Professional Championships. He was a Men’s Over 30 National Finalists from 2005-2007.

    As a coach, he brings his ability and success on the field, as well as, his passion of the game and working with young people. His enthusiasm and enjoyment fo rsoccer spills over to the players he coaches. He has coached for twenty two years encompassing all different levels such as club, varsity high school, and community college. During this time Coach Dunn coached two league championteams and a high school repeating playoff team.

    Born and raised in Olympia, Washington, Coach Dunn came to Arizona in 2004 to start his own construction business with his twin brother James. Coach Dunn and his wife, LaChelle, have been happily married for nineteen years. He now takes pride in coaching his three children including assisting his middle child’s club team to win a state championship this past year.     Perry High School New Girls Cross Country Coach- Gwen Anthony

    Gwen Anthony was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois and attended Schaumburg High School. She graduated from the University of South Carolina, majoring in journalism and received her master’s degree from Grand Canyon University in secondary education. She also received a full-scholarship from USC in track and cross country. Coach Anthony’s personal best is a 5:01 in the mile and 2:12 in the 800 meters. She has been coaching for over 16 years, including last year as the girls head coach at Hamilton, 2011 and 2009 as an assistant at Perry and the previous 5 years at Hamilton Prep. Coach Anthony has personally completed 8 marathons, including Boston and many half-marathons. She is excited to work with the Perry Cross Country team this year!     Perry High School New Boys Soccer and Boys Cross Country Coach -John Roberts


    Coach John Roberts is coming to us from Higley High School, where he was the girls varsity soccer coach and boys cross country coach from 2002-06, boys varsity soccer coach and girls cross country coach from 2009-2012, and again the girls varsity soccer coach in the 2012-2013 season. During that time in soccer, he has received two coach of the year awards and two region coach of the year awards while winning a state championship in 2006, as well as a state runner up in 2004. As a cross country coach, he was named the East Valley Tribune Coach of the Year and took his teams to the state meet almost every year. He has been coaching soccer for 27 years at various levels including 18 years at the club level in California and Arizona. He has coached teams to numerous league and division titles, two state titles in club and three state runners up appearances at the club level. He is a nationally certified coach and he is blessed to have coached two national team players.

    Born and raised in Southern California, Roberts came to Arizona in 1993. He has taught Special Education at Florence and Higley High Schools. He started playing soccer at the age of 5 and started playing club soccer at the age of 13. After playing for his high school soccer team, he briefly played collegiately before meeting his wife of 26 years. Roberts and his wife, Staci, have four beautiful children, Sarah (25), Samantha (23), Shayla (22), and John (19). Coach Roberts will also be teaching Special Education for Perry HS.     Perry HS New Girls Volleyball Coach - Fred Mann

     

    Perry High School is excited to welcome Fred Mann as the new head girls varsity volleyball coach effective for the 2013-14 season. Coach Mann is coming to us from Mountain Pointe High School, where he led the boys and girls teams to a combined eight state championships. He will also serve as a guidance counselor overseeing the STEM program at Perry HS.

    Mann led the Pride boys to state titles in 1995, 1999, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2008 and 2009, and the girls to the 2001 championship. In addition, the Mountain Pointe teams combined for three state runner-up seasons.

    Born and raised in South Africa, Mann served a two-year mandatory military service in the Parachute Battalion and went on to play as an outside hitter in college for a national championship team. He then moved to the U.S. in 1991 at age 25 where he continued to play professional beach volleyball from 1990 until 1995. Mann and his wife, Angie, have three children, Levi (age 18), Kaylee (15) and Morgan (11). He can be reached at mann.fred@cusd80.com.

    Perry High School New Spiritline Coach - Jamie Nielson

     

    Perry HS is excited to announce Jamie Nielson as the head spiritline coach effective for the 2013-14 school year. Coach Nielson began taking tumbling and cheer classes at age 5. She attended Mesa Mountain View High School and was on the Varsity level for 3 years. Her teams swept the competition her junior year, taking 1st in both cheer and the overall spiritline. Being caption her senior year, her teams took 2nd in cheer and 1st in the overall spiritline.

    Coach Nielson began her coaching career her senior year of high school at Desert Devils where the teams took many 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places at competitions throughout the valley. Her experience includes working with competition teams as well as teaching cheer and tumbling classes for all ages. For two consecutive years she choreographed for Shepherd Jr. High whose team took 1st and 2nd place with their routines in state competitions. Coach Nielson is currently coaching at Flips Tumbling where she coaches tumbling classes for all ages.

    This will be Coach Nielson’s 2nd year at Perry. She coached the freshman squad who later combined with the JV squad taking 1st and 3rd in their cheer competitions. Continuing her education, she went on to earn an Associate’s Degree from Mesa Community College and is currently studying Secondary Education Math at Arizona State University. Coach Nielson and her husband, David, have been married for 3 years. They have a sweet little boy, Paxton that loves to be a part of the Puma Nation Family.
