• 2013-2014 State Tournament Recaps

      2013 Fall Sports State Tournament Re-Cap
     

    Badminton – 12-2, 7th team in state power rankings, Sectional Champion, defeated Desert Vista in the first round of the state playoffs, lost in the second round to Mountain Pointe. Doubles team of Jenna Reynolds and Laynee Gomez made it to the 3rd round of state.  Singles player Natalie Silvers made it to the 3rd round of the state tournament and Laike Reader lost in the 1st round.  Jenna Reynolds was named Section 2 Player of the Year and Reynolds/Gomez were the Section 2 Doubles Team of the Year.  Coach Lerina Johnson was voted as the Arizona State and Section 2 Coach of the Year for the second year in a row.

     


    Boys Cross Country
    – 1st at the city meet (3 All-CUSD and 4 All-City team members finishing 1st, 3rd , 5th, and 8th), 5th at the sectional, 11th at state (highest CUSD team finisher), Cade Burks placed 21st for 3rd team All-State and was All-EV Tribune 2nd Team.  Coach John Roberts was named CUSD Coach of the Year.  Gunnar Albrecht was All-EV Tribune Honorable Mention.
     
    Girls Cross Country  - 3rd at the city meet (2 All-CUSD and 3 All-City team members finishing 5th, 7th and 10th), 6th at the sectional, 15th at state.  Gabby Ybarra was the top Perry finisher at 60th and was All-EV Tribune Honorable Mention.  Others All-EV Tribune Honorable Mention: Taylor Slevin and Brianna Junior.

    Football
    – 2-8, ranked 24th team in state power rankings.  1st year in Division 1.  Austin Pauley named All-State Division 1 and 1st Team All-Section Offensive Line.  Alec Monte named All-Section Two-Way Player of the Year.  Other All-Section Players: Logan Arredondo (Line Backer, 1st Team), Lane Veach (Tight End and Long Snapper, 2nd Team), Ben Terhark (Wide Receiver, 2nd Team), Marcus Payne (Defensive Line, 2nd Team), Case Hatch (Line Backer, 2nd Team), and Jackson Spilsbury (Defensive Back, 2nd Team).


    Boys Golf
    – 20th place at state.  Alex Shin was the highest Perry individual finisher at 67th.


    Boys Swim
    – 18th at state, Sam Morton placed 14th in the 200 Free and 11th in the 500 Free, Jon Underwood was 9th in the 100 Backstroke, the 200 Free Relay with Benton Marcum, Levi Siwek, Tristan Diaz and Jake Perrine took 9th, and the 400 Free Relay with Jon Underwood, Levi Siwek, Sam Morton and Jake Perrine was 14th 

     
    Girls Swim/Dive – 25th at state, Raeven Richardson was 3rd in the 100 Breaststroke and was All-EV Tribune 2nd Team, Abigail Whitlock placed 13th at state dive. Diving coach Keddi Murrish was named the Arizona Dive Coach of the Year for the second year in a row.

     

    Girls Volleyball – 11-6, 8th team in state power rankings, hosted first ever home state playoff game, but lost to Mountain Pointe 2-3.  Talise Babbitt was named All-CUSD.  Mahea Rubin and Maddie Leblanc were All-CUSD Honorable Mention.  Fred Mann named All-CUSD Coach of the Year, All-Section Coach of the Year and All-EVTribune Coach of the Year.

     

    2013-14 Winter Sports State Tournament Re-Cap
     
    Boys Basketball 26-5, ranked #4 in State Power Rankings. Super Sectional Runner Up. State Playoffs Final Four. Defeated Red Mountain in the second round of state playoffs, defeated Sunnyslope in the state quarterfinals, lost to Corona in the state semi-finals. Won the Paradise Valley and McClintock Holiday Shoot Out Tournaments.  AIA Division 1 First Team Member: Markus Howard.  AIA All Section 2 First Team Members: Jordan Howard and Markus Howard. AZ Republic All Arizona Team and Division 1 First Team: Markus Howard, Division 1 Second Team: Jordan Howard, Big School Coach of the Year: Joe Babinski. All EV Tribune Player of the Year and First Team: Markus Howard.  All EV Tribune Honorable Mention: Jordan Howard, Jake Mortensen and Geoffrey Vredevoogd.  Max Preps Freshman All-American Second Team: Markus Howard.
     
    Girls Basketball 4-15, ranked #34 in State Power Rankings.
     
    Boys Soccer 7-5, ranked #17 in State Power Rankings. Won the Coyote Class Soccer Tournament. AIA All Section 2 First Team Member: Tristan Cooper (Midfield). All Section 2 Team Members: Isaiah Liddell and Dane Reali (Forwards), Zach Johnson (Midfield), Mitchell Albrecht (Defense), Carlos Parra (Goalie).  All EV Tribune First Team Mitchell Albrecht.  All EV Tribune Honorable Mention Tristin Cooper, Isaiah Liddell, Zachary Johnson, Carlos Parra, and Dane Reali.
     

    Girls Soccer10-1-1, ranked #3 in State Power Rankings,State Runner Up.  Defeated Sandra Day O’Conner in the first round of state playoffs, defeated Basha in state quarterfinals, defeated Boulder Creek in the state semi-finals, lost to Pinnacle in the state finals.  AIA All-Section 2 First Team Members: Ansley Warner (Forward), Kambree Meskill(Midfield), Emily Romer (Defense) and MaKenna Dunn (Defense).  All Section 2 Second Team Members: Ashley Dahl (Forward), Gina Bracamonte (Midfielder) and Carly Sandstedt (Goalie).  All Section Player of the Year: MaKenna Dunn.  All State Division 1 First Team Members: Kambree Meskill, Emily Romer and MaKenna Dunn.  All State Division 1 Second Team Members: Ansley Warner, Gina Bracamonte and Carly Sandstedt. AZ Republic All Arizona Team and Division 1 First Team: MaKenna Dunn, Division1 Second Team: Emily Romer and Kambree Meskill, Honorable Mention: Gina Bracamonte, Ashley Dahl, Carly Sandstedt and Ansley Warner.  All EV Tribune First Team: MaKenna Dunn and Emily Romer, Second Team: Ansley Warner, Honorable Mention: Gina Bracamonte, Ashley Dahl, Briana Destefano, Kambree Meskill, Carly Sandstedt and Brittany Swanson, Coach of the Year: Jason Dunn.

    WrestlingBuckeye Tournament Runner Up.  Logan Arrendondo 2nd at theSectional Tournament, 4th at State and All EV Tribune Honorable Mention. Braden Braithewaite 4th at the Sectional Tournament and State Qualifier. 
     

    2014 Spring Sports State Tournament Re-Cap

    Baseball 10-8, 19th ranked team inpower points, lost first round state playoff game against Sunnyslope.   Jeremy McCuin was named All-Section 1st Team - Position Player and All EV-Tribune 1st Team.  Kyle Huckaby was named All-Section 2nd Team - Pitcher and All EV-Tribune Honorable Mention.  Tyler Watson, Kyle Huckaby, Austin Bull and Brady Hettinger were All EV-Tribune Honorable Mention.

    Softball – 9-9, 14th ranked team in power points, lost first round state playoff game against Corona del Sol.  Malayna Gomez was named All AZ Division 1 1st Team, AIA All-Division 2nd Team, All-Section 1st Team – Outfielder and All EV-Tribune 1st Team .  Alyssa Barlow was named All-Section 2nd Team – Designated Hitter.  Taylor Aldridge, Payton Fry and Sabrina Nieto were All EV-Tribune Honorable Mention.

     

    Boys Tennis -8-6, ranked #17 in State Power Rankings. Team Runner Up in the East Valley Tennis Tournament. State Doubles Team: Kyle Vance and Jordan Yeager, won 1st round match against Dobson, lost in the 2nd round to Highland. State Singles Player: Austin Stradling, lost in the 1st round.

    Girls Tennis -6-8, ranked #24 in State Power Rankings. State Doubles Team: Laike Reader and Audrey West, won 1st round match against Sunnyslope, lost in the 2nd round to Centennial. State Singles Player: Allie Shibel, lost in the 1st round.

    Boys Track – 13th team place at State Meet.  State qualifiers (place): 100M -Terran Blanchard (9th), 200M/400M - Jackson Spilsbury (DQ/4th), 800M/3200M - Cade Burks (2nd/9th), 3200M – Gunnar Albrecht (16th), 4x100R - Blanchard, Spilsbury, Brandon Rule, Marcus Pane (2nd), 4x800R - Albrecht, Burks, Felix Drake, Mitchell McKay (10th).  Cade Burks was named All EV-Tribune 2nd team 800 meters.

    Girls Track - State qualifiers (place): Triple Jump - Alana Fallon (16th), Pole Vault – Hayleigh Fritts (12th) and Angie Prakelt (21st), Shot Put: Jenna Reynolds (21st)

     

    Boys Volleyball 14-3, 9th ranked team in State Power Rankings. Defeated McClintockin the 1st round state playoff game, defeated Sahuaro in the 2nd round, lost to Mesa in the state quarterfinals.  Jalen Cross was named All AZ Honorable Mention.  AIA All-Division 2nd Team and All-Section 1st Team – Hitter/Middle Blocker.  Wyatt Veach (Hitter/Middle Blocker) and Michael Hoffman (Libero) were named All-Section 2nd Team.  Michael Hoffman was named All AZ Honorable Mention.
