EDGE @ Chief Hill Learning Academy

    Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,

Chief Hill Academy is one of Chandler Unified School District’s non-traditional program sites.  We are a small campus with two different programs and are able to provide more individualized attention to each students’ particular needs; our students come to us from different schools throughout the district.  Specifically, EDGE students are assigned to us via the IEP team and attend classes within our program.

EDGE @ Hill is a specialized program (Expectations, Directions, and Guidance in Education) developed to help students work on deficit skills; we provide additional support to help them identify appropriate coping strategies and provide practice in applying these strategies within the educational setting. Through building relationships, structure and guidance, our focus is to help students achieve their behavioral and academic goals on the road to graduation and becoming a productive citizen.  The majority of our students are on a path to returning to their home school being better able to cope with the demands of a traditional campus and to advocate for their needs.

Our mission at EDGE is to provide a safe, structured and positive learning environment, so each student can grow and learn more acceptable ways of dealing with school demands and overall expectations faced by young people today.

We provide academic instruction along with strategies and techniques to develop positive methods of dealing with emotional dysregulation and ongoing social skills instruction with the purpose of helping students make quality decisions in their daily lives.  We focus on behavior support, which emphasizes positive social interactions, and proactive decision-making.

At EDGE, we believe in a team approach.  We look forward to working with you and your student(s)!

    Sincerely,

    Luke Hickey
