2014 Fall Sports State Tournament Re-Cap
Badminton – 10-4, 15th team in state power rankings, State Runner Up, defeated Ironwood in the first round of the state playoffs, defeated Horizon in the second round, defeated Corona in the quarterfinals, lost to Xavier in the finals. Doubles team of Lauren Kater and Laike Reader made it to the 3rd round of the doubles state tournament and were named AIA-Division 1 Section 2 Doubles Team of the Year. Singles player Jenna Reynolds made it to the 2nd round of the individual state tournament.
Boys Cross Country – 2nd at the city meet (2 All-CUSD and 5 All-City team members finishing 2nd, 9th, 10th, 12th and 14th), 6th at the sectional, 11th at state. Cade Burks placed 9th for 2nd team All-State and was named to the All-East Valley Tribune 2nd Team.Girls Cross Country - 3rd at the city meet (1 All-CUSD and All-City team member finished 7th), 7th at the sectional, 16th at state. Gabby Ybarra was the top Perry finisher at 59th.
Football – 5-5, ranked 14th team in state power rankings. Lost to Brophy in the 1st round of state playoffs. Austin Nightingale (QB) named AZ Cardinals Player of the Week. Chase Cawood, Kenny Fultz and Case Hatch named AIA Division 1 All-Section 1 1st Team. Brock Heffron, Kenny McMurphy, Alec Monte, Austin Nightingale and Samuel O'Hare named AIA Division 1 All-Section 1 2nd Team. Chase Cawood Defensive Lineman, Kenny Fultz Defensive Backs, Case Hatch Linebacker, Brock Heffron Linebacker, Alec Monte Receivers/Tight Ends, Austin Nightingale Quarterbacks, Samuel O'hare Offensive Lineman named AIA All-Division 1 Honorable Mention. Case Hatch named All-East Valley Tribune 1st Team Defense. Kenny Fultz named All-East Valley Tribune 2nd Team Defense. Chase Cawood, Kenny McMurphy, Alec Monte and Austin Nightingale named All-East Valley Tribune Honorable Mention. Austin Nightingale and Brock Heffron were honored as the National Football Foundation Top 36 Valley of the Sun Chapter Scholar Athletes. Austin Nightingale also received the NFF Shaw Courage Award.Boys Golf – 14th team in state power rankings. Brady Pottle placed 40th at the state tournament.Girls Golf - Did not qualify for the state tournament.
Boys Swim - 13th at state. Jon Underwood was 5th in the 100 Backstroke and 12th in the 200 Freestyle. Jake Perrine was 11th in the 500 Freestyle. The 200 freestyle relay of Underwood, Perrine, Benton Marcum and Kaden Miller finished 4th. The 400 Freestyle relay of Underwood, Perrine, Marcum and Miller finished 11th.Girls Swim/Dive – 12th at state, Raeven Richarson was 2nd in the 100 Breaststroke and 13th in the 200 IM. Kelci Abernethy was 8th in Diving. The 400 Freestyle Relay of Richardson, Morgan Corey, Haley Nemmers and Ryleigh Weight was 13th.
Girls Volleyball – 14-3, 4th team in state power rankings. Defeated Millennium in the first round of the state playoffs. Lost to Basha in the second round. Ashley Greene, Taylor Knoll and Madison Leblanc were named AIA Division 1 All-Section 2 Honorable Mention. Coach Fred Mann CUSD Milestone Victory Honor 567 Career Wins in Boys Volleyball, 367 Wins in Girls Volleyball.
2014-15 Winter Sports State Tournament Re-CapBoys Basketball - 15-6, ranked #9 in State Power Rankings. Lost to Central in the first round of the Super Section. Defeated Desert Mountain in the first round of the State Playoffs. Lost to Desert Vista in the second round of state playoffs. Won the Paradise Valley Tournament. AIA All-Division 1 First Team, AIA All-Section 2 First Team, All-USA Arizona American Family Insurance Team and All-East Valley Tribune 1st Team Member: Markus Howard. Defeated Gilbert in the first round of state playoffs, lost to Hamilton in the state quarterfinals. Singles Player Taylor Shin defeated Ironwood in Round 1 and lost to Hamilton in Round 2 of the State Singles Tournament.Boys Track- At the State Meet, Cade Burks placed 2nd in the 800 meters, Brandon Rule placed 21st in the 300 Hurdles, the 4x100 Relay (Asante Dixon, Jaren Burch, Austin Nightingale and Brandon Rule) placed 16th, the 4x400 Relay (Cade Burks, Asante Dixon, Alex O'Dell and Thomas Richardson) placed 14th, and the 4x800 Relay (Cade Burks, Cole Crippen, Felix Drake and Thomas Richardson) placed 15th.Girls Track- At the State Meet, Jenna Reynolds placed 19th in the Discus and 10th in the Shot Put, Angie Prackelt placed 14th in the Pole Vault, Alyssia Gonzalez placed 21st in the 100 meters and 16th in the 200 meters, and the 4x100 Relay (Emily Arnold, Alyssia Gonzalez, Michelle Bolden and Chelsey Ferguson) placed 10th.Boys Volleyball – 15-3, ranked #15 in State Power Rankings.
