Many career and technical classes are offered to our students at Chandler High. In order to better serve students, we have partnered with East Valley Institute of Technology. Located in the heart of Mesa, they offer specialized high school level technical training in 13 cluster areas.EVIT students attend courses one-half of the day each day. The other half is spent at Chandler High, completing core requirements. Transportation is provided between Chandler and EVIT main campus. Students are required to adhere to EVIT's calendar of classes. Meaning, they will have to attend EVIT during CUSD intercessions.Common Questions...Q.) When can my students start attending EVIT?A.) Most EVIT programs are two-year programs, therefore students usually attend EVIT in their junior and senior year.Q.) Is there a fee required to attend EVIT?A.) There is NO tuition fee to attend EVIT. However, some programs have a supply, uniform, exam or fight time fee. Costs and fees are minimal compared to other private programs. If a fee is a concern, contact EVIT for assistance.Q.) Will my students be able to play sports and attend EVIT?A.) Most Chandler students attending EVIT in the afternoon, return to campus at or around 3:05pm, Monday through Friday. Students need to check with their individual coaches for practice and game times.Q.) What will my student's schedule look like?

Q.) Why do EVIT students need to take "EVIT English"?A.) EVIT students leave early to attend EVIT. PM EVIT students are in a special section of English that spans two periods 3 and 4 in order to allow equal classroom seat time, a lunch period and transportation to EVIT to begin class at noon.Q.) During testing, (AZMerit, ACT, etc.) what does my student need to do?A.) Students will need to test and request a home school verification form to excuse them from EVIT. Parents need to call the EVIT attendance office too. Parents need to call the EVIT attendance office to inform EVIT of their student’s absence due to testing at the homeschool.If testing is not required, the student will attend EVIT as usual. Please note, some testing dates may require all students not testing to be off campus. The cafeteria may be closed for service. Students should check with their teachers for testing procedures during these times.
Q.) Can a student attend EVIT who is credit deficient?
A.) Graduation is always the priority at Chandler High, so with this in mind, students will be required to meet with their counselor and set a graduation plan.Q.) Does EVIT have the same calendar start date as CHS?
A.) Beginning with the 2023-24 school year, EVIT adopted a modified year-round school schedule. The EVIT calendar may vary by one week or so for starting the school year or during a break from CUSD. Students will need to arrange transportation to and from their home site during those times.
Q.) Are there programs for which bus transportation may not be available?
A.) Yes, if a program is a 4 hour block program i.e. has a start time of 7-11 am (no early morning transportation) or noon- 4pm (no late transportation) is available. Students will need to make their own transportation arrangements for those non-transportation times.
Q.) When will a student be informed about registration processes for EVIT?

Chandler High expectations for EVIT students...1. Students attending EVIT must remain on track to graduate. Meet with your counselor if you have questions.2. Students need to stay on campus for "A" lunch if they wish to ride the CUSD bus to EVIT. They must also submit a transportation request form before they start EVIT or they will not be allowed to ride the bus. If you did not complete the Bus request form by June 13th , you can request here: BUS REQUEST FORM CLICK HERE. A student may provide their own transportation to EVIT but they will not be allowed back on campus after their last CHS class that day.
3. During the CUSD intersession, buses from Chandler High to and from EVIT will be in operation. Students are expected to attend EVIT during the CUSD intercession. CUSD intersession will not be considered a home school excused absence. Please review the CUSD and EVIT calendars.4.
