Alex Hirsh, Bella Mallen and Griffin Perry attended the DECA International Career Development Conference in Anahiem, where 19,000 students competed in various events from the United States, Canada, China, Japan, Spain and South Korea. Alex Hirsh received a Silver medal for his Automotive Services Marketing Role Play event. Please congratulation Alex for this huge achievement, as well as Bella and Griffin for making it to the International level! Basha DECA was the only CUSD high school to take the stage to receive a role play medal!

Agriscience teacher Sharon Metzger was recognized at the Association for Career and Technical Education Region 5 conference in South Dakota as Region Teacher of the Year. She will go on to be in the running for National Teacher of the Year this December in Nashville.
Albeit humble in her accomplishments, Sharon deserves recognition from those who know her work best.

16 students qualified for nationals winning first or second place in the state and will be representing the state of Arizona at FCCLA nationals in Nashville, TN this summer.

Additionally, Basha Bears FCCLA placed second in the state in the FCCLA Knowledge Bowl Competitive Event.

Last week, two teams from the Basha FFA Chapter competed in the 89th National FFA Career Development Events. We are very proud of all they accomplished and represented Basha and AZ proudly.
The Nursery/Landscape team consisting of Madison Montes, David McNamara, Ashley Waters, and Samantha Beben all placed Bronze Individually and earned a Bronze Team Placing.
The Floriculture team consisting of Madison Turski, Marcella Rodarte, Jacob Arriaza and Sydney Kellow earned a Silver Team Placing with the three ladies earning Silver Individual and Jacob earning a Bronze Individual.

The Basha Bears FCCLA competed at FCCLA Nationals in San Diego, CA where RyLee Williams placed FIRST in the nation in her category, Leadership Event! She was awarded an exclusive invitation to partcipate in Cottey College's Leadership Academy and $350 to pay for this leadership experience as well as $3000 a year scholarship for 4 years, up to $12,000.

The following students won: Damian Rohman won an Industry Scholarship valued at $3,000 including a job with Cullinary M with mentorship from the Head Chef and paid coursework for a CCAP Industry Certification, Braelyn Deem won the $5,000 Beau Macmillan Scholarship. Basha High Nursing students Jazmin Padilla, Nicole Soto, Sandra Moreno, Chayse Olson, Jadyn Blandin, Alyssa Deandra and Instructor Mary Mangan assisted with the distribution of Thanksgiving turkeys and other dinner ingredients at the CUSD CARE Center on Saturday, November 21, 2015. Over 500 families were served. What a worthwhile activity for the community!
