Finals are upon us! You must be here on the final days--there are no early finals. If you must be absent on the final day, a parent must call in to excuse you. Then, the teacher will issue a failing grade and post. When we come back January 7th--you have 2 weeks from that time to speak with your teacher and schedule the make-up exam. It is imperative that you do not wait for the teacher to speak with you as they have posted and are moving on to the semester 2 curriculum. Study the review packets well that you will receive from the teachers, go in for additional tutoring as needed. Quarter 1 percentage is 40%, quarter 2 percentage is 40%, and the final is 20%. Your transcript will be posted before January 7th--check it out in your portal to make sure you agree with all the grades posted. This will be your seventh semester reported to the colleges, so it truly does matter. All Common App midyear reports will be updated by your counselor when you meet with them either January 8 or 9 during your English class. If you do not have an in-person English class, you must schedule a time with your counselor for that week to have your final sit down and review! We wish you great success!
October 16 and 17 counselors met in the auditorium with all seniors to go over how to set up their FAFSA PIN and why all should submit a FAFSA application December 1.
If you are applying through Common App and click on enable Application Preview then your counselor may not need a resume or counselor recommendation packet to write your letter of recommendation. Email your counselor to ask if what they can see will suffice.
All athletes! Please go to the NCAA/NAIA folder on this site to make sure you are in line to be cleared by the Clearing House. This process is something you and your parents/guardians do. This is not a school related item, so please make sure you are following the timelines needed by the college(s) of your choice.
College Fair August 2024 was Sept 18 at Hamilton High 6 PM-8 PM. Click here for the flyer.
The first quarter grade reports are now in Infinite Campus. Speak to your teachers with any concerns.
Start this year off to a great beginning and commit to perfect attendance and turning in your HW on time! Leave your cell phone at home and limit your social media time--you will be happier:)
Senior Countdown--go to this link and see the timeline for your senior year--Senior Countdown in PDF form
Senior Units were on August 7th and 8th at the following times in the auditorium--if you do not have an in-person English class you were asked to join the period you have your COA class. To see what we went over just click this link for the powerpoint presentation .
Senior Credit Checks were through your English class Wednesday, July 31 or Thursday, August 1, so if you do not have an in-person class, you must contact your counselor to make up that meeting in order to be on the graduation roster.
How to figure a core GPA--there is no report your counselor can run to give this to you, so this must be done by hand--it is truly just finding the averages of numbers
The core classes are:
4 Eng
4 math
3 lab science
2 Social studies must include AM AZ history plus either world history or govt/econ combo
1 CTE or fine art—a student must research if any out of state universities require a fine art—for AZ either is accepted
2 foreign languages—some colleges, at this moment, are not requiring the foreign languages, some require 3 years—a student must research if any out of state university requires a foreign languages
For instance, 16 classes would mean 32 semester grades. Grade point value is as follows:
A= 4
B= 3
C= 2
D = 1
Then you find the mean or average. No weight may be applied for college admissions so even an honors A = 4.
If you will be needing a letter of recommendation we need a resume and this form completed at least 2 school weeks in advance for us to write a quality letter. We are not on contract during your breaks so please plan accordingly. Check to see if your counselor prefers to even write a generic one early on with the ability to fine tune in an emergency!
