We are fortunate to have Chandler-Gilbert Community College near many of our schools. The community has access to numerous programs, support, and assistance. Chandler-Gilbert Community College has two early college programs that support local high school students-the Hoop of Learning Scholar Program and the ACE Scholar Program.

Hoop of Learning Scholar Program
- What is the Maricopa Hoop of Learning Program?
Hoop of Learning is a high school-to-college bridge program for American Indian students in 9-12th grades. This scholarship program is year-round. A new cohort begins every summer and high school students take college courses on the campus of Chandler-Gilbert Community College. Hoop of Learning Scholars earn 12 college credits a year. - Mission Statement

- Program Eligibility
- Hoop of Learning applicants must be an enrolled member of a federal/state-recognized American Indian Tribal Nation.
- Hoop of Learning applicants must be self-motivated and have excellent school attendance.
- Hoop of Learning applicants must be current high school freshmen, sophomore, or junior students who can provide a current copy of their high school transcript.
- Hoop of Learning applicants must have a minimum 2.0 GPA in high school

- Learn about financial aid processes and scholarship opportunities

- Explore educational & career opportunities
- Utilize on-campus resources such as tutoring, the career center, library, computer labs, and more to improve your study skills
- Familiarize yourself with the enrollment process for transitioning to full-time college after completing the HOL program
- How to Apply
Any eligible student may apply directly through the Hoop of Learning office. Applications are accepted every Fall semester between
September and December, with selections being made in January.
Application Priority Deadline: December 15th of every year
Applications can be completed online at CGC.edu/Hoop
- If selected, students agree to the following:

- Student & parent(s): attend a mandatory orientation
- Complete college admission and take assessment tests in English and Reading
- Adhere to college policies and procedures
- Commit to successful completion of college courses

ACE Plus Program

ACE Scholar Program
- The ACE Scholar Program is an early college, 2-year, scholarship program at Chandler-Gilbert Community College. The program is designed to help students make a smooth transition from high school to college. ACE Scholars can earn up to 24 credits.
ACE Scholar Program Eligibility- High school sophomores who have earned at least 6 high school credits and meet one or more of the following criteria:
- First generation to attend college
- Single-parent home
- Underrepresented group
- Teen parent
- Foster care/temporary housing
- Other economic hardships
- High school sophomores who have earned at least 6 high school credits and meet one or more of the following criteria:
- Recruitment for the ACE Scholar Program takes place each Fall. Final cohort selections are made in January.
Application Priority Deadline: December 15th of every year
If selected, ACE Scholars commit to the following:

- Student & parent(s): attend a mandatory orientation
- Complete college admission and take assessment tests in English and Reading
- Adhere to college policies and procedures
- Taking 2 classes during the summer before the beginning of their junior and senior years of high school, for 5 weeks, Monday-Thursday.
- Taking 1 class on Saturdays for 12 weeks - During the Fall (August - November) and Spring (January–April) Semesters
- Making Arrangements for their transportation to/from Chandler-Gilbert Community College-Pecos campus to attend class and other scheduled events
- Purchasing textbooks and/or school supplies
- Sophomore students from local high schools are encouraged to apply.
