• 2017-18 Fall Sports Season Re-Cap

     

    Badminton - 15-0 regular season, 1st team in state power rankings, State Champions, BYE in the 1st Round of the State Playoffs, defeated Red Mountain in the Quarterfinals, defeated Xavier in the Semi Finals, defeated Mountain Ridge in the Finals.  AIA Team Scholar Award. Singles player Jillian Lagasca was State Champion, All-Premier Section Singles Player of the Year and was named AZ Central Badminton Player of the Year. Julia Mumme was Singles State Runner Up and was named AZ Central Honorable Mention for Player of the Year.  Doubles team of Kylie Goldberg/Megan Crow were State Champions.  Doubles team of Jordan Pedersen/Jessica Read were State Runners Up and All-Premier Section Doubles Players of the Year.  Megan Crow is a finalist for the AZ Central Player of the Year.  Lerina Johnson was All-Premier Section, AIA Division 1, and AZ Central Badminton Coach of the Year. 

     

    Boys Cross Country - 3rd at the City Meet, 7th at the Sectional, 12th at State.  AIA Team Scholar Award. Anthony Haren was the City Meet Runner Up for 1st Team All-City, placed 14th at State for 2nd Team All-State. Jacob Stabler was 58th, Austin Hutchings 74th, James Cardon 76th, Joey Bosi 87th, Marcus Behling 92nd, Andrew Norton 110th.

     

    Girls Cross Country - 3rd at the City Meet, 5th at the Sectional, 12th at State. AIA Team Scholar Award. Titan Invite Champions. Kylie Miller was 5th at the City Meet for 1st Team All-City.  Katie Miller was the top finisher at State for Perry at 41st place. Kylie Miller 48th, Rylie Howey 62nd, Braylan Horned 80th, Emily Havey 97th, Keely Obrey 105th, Taylor Katz 110th.

     

    Football - 9-1 regular season, 4th team in state power rankings, State Runners Up, defeated Boulder Creek in the 1st Round of the State Playoffs, defeated Hamilton in the Quarterfinals, defeated Mountain Pointe in the Semi-Finals, lost to Chandler in the Finals.  Brock Purdy was named AIA 6A All-Conference 1st Team, All-Premier Region Player of the Year, named AZ Cardinals Player of the Year, winner of the Ed Dougherty Award, Arizona Gatorade Football Player of the Year, and is nominated for AZ Central Player of the Year. D'Shayne James was named AIA All-Premier Region 1st Team and Ed Dougherty Medallion Award winner. Darius Holton (D-Back), Kenny Fultz (Kick Return) and Zach Neff (O-Line), were named AIA 6A All-Conference 1st Team and All-Premier Region 1st Team. Travis Beckman (D-Line) and Victor Nieto (Linebacker) were named All-Premier Region 1st Team.  Jobiin Sweatt (D-Line), Ryann Warren (Snapper), Brayden Rohme (O-Line), Kaiden Baxter (O-Line), Connor Boyd (Punter), Colby Dickie (WR), and Tate Speaker (TE) were named All-Premier Region 2nd Team.  Vincent Corral, David Eppinger, Andrei Mayberry, Erik Rivera, Adrian Sanchez and Harley Scott were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.  Prince Johnson, Jr. was named Scholar Athlete of the Year for the Phoenix Chapter - National Alliance of African American Athletes.  Coach Preston Jones was named AZ Cardinals Coach of the Year.

     

    Boys Golf - 6th place at State.  AIA Team Scholar Award. Caden Christopherson was the highest finisher for Perry at State at 5th place and was All-Premier Region 1st Team.  Ryan Macpherson was 22nd at State and 2nd Team All-Premier Region.  Connor Brown (50th at State) and Tyler Macpherson (60th at State) were All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.  Coby Martinez was 60th at State.

     

    Girls Golf - 10th place at State.  AIA Team Scholar Award. Dakota Kriel and Malia Uyeshiro were the highest finishers for Perry at State tied for 36th place and were All-Premier Region 2nd Team.  Breann Brennan was 46th at State and All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.  Megan Tenorio was 66th at State. 

     

    Boys Swim/Dive - 3rd place at State.  Tai Combs was State Champion in the 50 Free, 3rd in the 100 Free, was named All-Premier Region 1st Team, All-Arizona AZ Central, and NISCA All-American for the 50 Free.  Kaden Miller was the State Champion in the 100 Free, State Runner Up in the 50 Free, was named All-Premier Region 1st Team, All-Arizona AZ Central for the 100 Free, and was a finalist for AZ Central Swimmer of the Year.  The 200 Free Relay of Combs, Miller, Jensen and Lewis were State Runners Up. Kyle Benjamin was 6th in the 500 Free, 10th in the 200 Free, and was named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Jaiden Jack was 7th in the 100 Free, 11th in the 200 Free, and was named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Jayton Jensen was 11th in the 200 IM, 17th in the 100 Free, and was named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Tate Lewis was 24th in the 50 Free and was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Tanner Van Briesen was 30th in the 500 Free.  The 400 Free Relay of Benjamin, Combs, Jensen and Miller was 4th. The 200 Medley Relay of Benjamin, Jack, Lewis and Everett Milloy was 11th. Milloy was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Stephanie Carrasco was named Premier Region, AIA Division 1 and AZ Central Coach of the Year.  

     

    Girls Swim/Dive - 11th place at State.  Kalli Fama was State Champion in the 200 Free, State Runner Up in the 100 Backstroke, was named All-Premier Region 1st Team, was a finalist for AZ Central Swimmer of the Year, and named NISCA All-American for the 200 Free. Savannah Boylin was 25th in the 50 Free and was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Loren Connors was 26th in the 100 Free was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team.  Ashlyn Graziani was 25th in the 100 Backstroke was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Haley Nemmers was 19th in the 200 Free, 21st in the 500 Free and was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Brieanna Wood was 27th in the 100 Breaststroke and was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team.  The 400 Free Relay of Boylin, Connors, Fama and Nemmers was 9th. The 200 Medley Relay of Boylin, Fama, Nemmers and Wood was 10th.  The 200 Free Relay of Boylin, Connors, Graziani and Riley McKenna was 14th.  Celeste Llona was 6th in Diving and was named All-Premier Region 1st Team.  McKenzie Wagner was 18th in Diving. Brooklyn Larson was 32nd in Diving.  Riley McKenna was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team.

     

    Girls Volleyball - 13-4 regular season. 5th team in State Power Rankings. State Semi Finalists.  Defeated Boulder Creek in the 1st Round of State Play Offs, defeated Millennium in the Quarterfinals, lost to Xavier in the Semi Finals.  Won the Chandler House of Payne and the SoCal Hudl Tournaments. AIA Team Scholar Award. Alexis Keith (Hitter) was named All-6A Conference 2nd Team, All-Premier Region 1st Team and was a finalist for AZ Central Volleyball Player of the Year.   Ryann McKinley Davis (Hitter) and Grace Doyle (Hitter) were named All-Premier Region 1st Team.  Kennedy Kaminski (Hitter) was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team.  Halle Razo was All-Premier Region Honorable Mention and is a finalist for the Postitive Coaching Alliance Triple-Impact Competitor Scholarship.  Katie Koski was All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.

     

    2017-18 Winter Sports Season Re-Cap

    Boys Basketball - 10-8 regular season, 9th team in state power rankings, defeated Central in the State Play-in, defeated Horizon in Round 1 of the State Play Offs, lost to Brophy in the Quarterfinals. AIA Team Scholar Award. Jalen Williams was named AIA All-Premier Region Offensive Player of the Year.  Kyle Patterson and Bauer Bongard were named AIA All-Premier Region 1st Team. C.J. Jamerson was named AIA All-Premier Region 2nd Team.  D'Shayne James and Andrew Morrill were named AIA All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.

    Girls Basketball – 9-9 regular season, 16th team in state power rankings, lost to Chandler Basha in the State Play-in. AIA Team Scholar Award. Madison Conner was named AIA All-Premier Region Offensive Player of the Year. Tayanna Clayburne and Shayla O'Neil were named All-Premier Region 2nd Team.  Kayli Claflin and Grace Oken were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.

     

    Boys Soccer  6-6 regular season, 21st team in state power rankings, lost to Trevor Browne in the State Play-in. Joe Osterkamp was named All-Premier Region 1st Team (Defender).  Parker Rex (Forward) and Nico Digne (Midfield) were named All-Premier Region 2nd Team.  Kayden Burns and Wyatt Deutsch were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.

     

    Girls Soccer  10-2 regular season, 2nd team in state power rankings, State Runner Up, defeated Corona in the first round of the State Playoffs, defeated Chandler in the Quarterfinal, defeated Pinnacle in the State Semi-Finals, lost to Xavier in the State Finals. AIA Team Scholar Award. Remmi Deutsch (Forward) was named AIA All-6A Conference 1st Team, All-Premier Region 1st Team and was a finalist for AZ Central Girls Soccer Player of the Year. Brenna Alderson (Midfielder) was named AIA All-6A Conference 1st Team, All-Premier Region 1st Team and received AZ Central Girls Soccer Player of the Year Honorable Mention. Emma Richey (Defender) was named AIA All-6A Conference 1st Team and All-Premier Region 1st Team.  Logan Van Dine (Midfielder) was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team and received AZ Central Girls Soccer Player of the Year Honorable Mention.  Makayla Aman (Goalie), Jackie Gilbert (Forward), and Shaylynn Uyeshiro (Midfielder) were named All-Premier Region 2nd Team.  Trinity Kaufman and Delaney Uyeshiro were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.  Coach John Roberts was received AZ Central Coach of the year Honorable Mention.

     

    Wrestling – 13th at the State Tournament. Apache Junction Tournament Champions. Joe Abeita (106lb), Cameron Janda (126lb), Emilio Robles (138lb), Ikenna Nwankwo (170lb), Travis Calloway (182lb), Sage Davis (195lb), Justin Clatterbuck (220lb) and Vincent Corral (285lb) qualified for the State Tournament. Justin Clatterbuck took 3rd place at State, was the Section Champion and was named 1st Team AIA All-Premier Region. Travis Calloway took 4th place at State and was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team.  Vincent Corral (285lb) took 6th place at State and was named AIA All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Joe Abeita and Sage Davis were named All-Premier Region 2nd Team.  Cameron Janda, Ikaika Maldonado and Emilio Robles were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.

     

    Spiritline - Show Cheer 9th at AIA Regional Qualifier, 7th at AIA State and 7th at USA Spirit Nationals.  All Girls Stunt 2nd at AIA Regional Qualifier, 7th at AIA State and 9th at USA Spirit Nationals.  Pom 11th at AIA Regional Qualifier and 2nd at USA Dance Nationals.

     

    2017-18 Spring Sports Season Re-Cap

    Baseball - 9-9, 14th team in state power rankings. Defeated Tucson in the State Play-In.  Lost to Mountain Ridge in State Round 1. AIA Team Scholar Award.  Matthew Brown (Position Player) and Ty Pohlmann (Pitcher) were named AIA All-6A Conference 2nd Team, All-Premier Region 1st Team, and were selected for the AzBCA 6A All-Star Game. Logan Schwenke was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team and to the AzBCA Academic All Star Team. Caden Christopherson was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team.  Trenton Pallas and Max Johansen were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.  Max Johansen was named to the AzBCA Academic All Star Team.

     

    Softball - 12-6, 6th team in state power rankings. Defeated Mountain Pointe in State Round 1. Defeated O'Connor in the 2nd Round.  Lost to Pinnacle in the 3rd Round. Defeated O'Connor in the 3rd Round Elimination game. Defeated Pinnacle in the Semi Final game. Lost to Pinnacle in the Semi Final Double Elimation game. AIA Team Scholar Award.  Piper Lujan was named AIA All-6A Conference 1st Team, All-Premier Region 1st Team, will play in the Senior 6A All-Star game, and was Perry HS Wendy's Heisman Award Winner.  Saige Stutz was named All-Premier Region 1st Team.  Chole Krason, Jillian Lagasca and Taliah Gorman were named All-Premier Region 2nd Team.  Liberty Justus and Jordan Pedersen were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.  Sydnee Smith will play in the Senior 6A All-Star game.

     

    Boys Tennis - 11-3, 7th team in state power rankings. Defeated Buena in State Round 1.  (Still in the state play-offs as of 4/30/18). AIA Team Scholar Award. Cole McClure/Slade Yeager defeated Campo in Doubles State Round 1, defeated Basha in Round 2, defeated Corona in Round 3 and lost to Brophy in the Quarterfinals. Jordi Ferre/Brandon Merrell defeated Shadow Ridge in Doubles State Round 1, defeated Dobson in Round 2, and lost to Pinnacle in Round 3. Davin Ludwig defeated Valley Vista in Singles State Round 1, defeated Basha in Round 2, and lost to Sunnyslope in Round 3. 

     

    Girls Tennis - 9-5, 12th team in state power rankings. AIA Team Scholar Award.   McKenzie Jones/Kylie Goldberg defeated Westview in Doubles State Round 1 and lost to Rincon in Round 2. Talia Schrader lost to Red Mountain in Singles State Round 1. 

     

    Boys Track - 5th place at State. David Eppinger was the State Runner Up in the 400, placed 4th in the 200 and 12th in the 100 and was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team in the 200.  Drew Elliot placed 3rd in the 110 Hurdles and 5th in the 300 Hurdles and was named All-Premier Region 1st Team in both events. Anthony Haren placed 5th in the 1600, 10th in the 3200, 22nd in the 800 and was named All-Premier Region 1st Team in the 1600.  Antonio Green placed 23rd in the Long Jump and NH in the High Jump and was named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. D'Shayne James placed 4th in Javelin and was named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Kellen Simmons placed 15th in the High Jump and was named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Shayne Mckinley placed 19th in the 100.  The 4x100 relay team of Connor Boyd, Colby Dickie, Elliot, and Eppinger placed 3rd and were named All-Premier Region 1st Team.  The 4x400 relay team of Elliot, Owen Matthias, Thomas Richardson and Simmons placed 14th.

     

    Girls Track - 12th place at State. AIA Team Scholar Award. Samara McConnell was the State Runner Up in the Pole Vault and named All-Premier Region 1st Team.  Kylie Miller placed 9th in the 1600, 10th in the 3200. Jayden James placed 4th in the Javelin and was named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Madalyn Fritts placed 5th in the Pole Vault and was named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Carolyn Row placed 7th in the Pole Vault. Madison Thompson placed 9th in the High Jump and was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team. Olivia Harambasic placed 19th in the 100 Hurdles and was named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention. Ashlee Colborn placed 24th in the 100 Hurdles.  The 4x800 relay of Braylan Horned, Shelby Hubbard, Miller and Kate Miller and placed 9th.  The 4x100 team of McKenna Jones, Riley McKenna, Simone Simmons and Brenna Windish placed 11th.

     

    Beach Volleyball - 12-1, 4th in state power rankings. State Champions. Defeated Chandler in State Round 1, defeated Xavier in the Quarterfinals,  defeated O'Connor in the Semis, defeated Millennium in the Finals. AIA Section 1 Champions. AIA Team Scholar Award. The Pairs team of Ryan McKinely-Davis and Noelle Weintraub defeated Basha in Round 1 and lost to Corona in the Quarterfinals.  The Pairs team of Ellie McDonald and Matea Suan defeated Coconino in Round 1, defeated Sunnyslope in the Quarterfinals, lost to Salpointe in the Semi Finals. Matea Suan was named All-Premier Region Player of the Year. Ellie McDonald was named All-Premier Region 1st Team and was a finalist for AZ Central Beach Player of the Year.
    Ryann McKinley-Davis, Taylor Pennington and Portia Valadez were named All-Premier Region 1st Team. Halle Razo and Tatum Stall were All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.  Fred Mann was named All-Premier Region Coach of the Year and AZ Central Coach of the Year.

     

    Boys Volleyball – 10-6, 8th in state power rankings. State Semi Finalist. Defeated Boulder Creek in Round 1, defeated Chandler in the Quarterfinals, lost to O'Connor in the Semi Finals.  Daxton Tolman (Setter) was named AIA All-6A Conference 1st Team and All-Premier Region 1st Team.  Collin Hoag (Hitter) was named All-Premier Region 1st Team.  Dallin Hawkins (Hitter) was named All-Premier Region 2nd Team.  Bryson Breinholt and Dallin Winward were named All-Premier Region Honorable Mention.

     

    Unified Sports - Coach Rose Escalante was a finalist for AZ Central Coach of the Year.
