Welcome!
It is truly an honor to be the Principal at CTA Independence. I am excited to begin the 2023-2024 school year and grow our partnership with you as we work together to help our students develop the skills they need to be successful. Our school is ranked as one of the top school s in Arizona because of our continued commitment to excellence from our staff, students, parents, and the support of our community. Our staff provides meaningful learning experiences that promote critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. Students are our focus, and I am thrilled to build on our foundation as we set high expectations for student growth and achievement.
My Education and Professional Background
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Phoenix, a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Phoenix, and a Master’s Degree in Administrative Leadership/Principal Certification from Grand Canyon University. I began my educational career as a kindergarten teacher at a charter school in Chandler. After a few years there, I continued teaching kindergarten at CTA Independence for many years before switching to 4th grade. After many years as a classroom teacher, I pursued my passion for school leadership, and I became the Dean of Students at CTA Independence and Basha Elementary as well as CTA Goodman. Later, I was promoted to an Assistant Principal at Tarwater Elementary, and now I am thrilled and proud to return to CTA Independence as the Principal.
My Educational Philosophy
I believe all students can learn. As educators we must set high expectations for student growth and achievement. Teaching should ignite a passion for learning in all students and provide an environment that is safe and nurturing. Fostering a growth mindset in our students promotes perseverance and encourages students to think critically. When our teachers, students, and families work together to build positive relationships that are student focused, student achievement thrives. At CTA Independence, we are fortunate to have such a dedicated staff that works closely with families to ensure our students are successful.
