Welcome!
Hello and welcome to 6th grade! My name is Aly Miller and I so blessed to be your teacher this year. My classroom is my favorite place to be and I absolutely love what I do. We are going to have an amazing adventure in 6th grade this year. In my class you will be explorers, historians, scientists, authors, artists, collaborators, and teammates. We will grow as learners and leaders here in D8. I know each and every one of my students is important, strong, and capable of anything.
My Education and Professional Background
I graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education (Go Sun Devils!) I also hold a certification to teach middle school social studies. I love all things history and I am so lucky that I get to teach my favorite subject. I taught in Mesa Public Schools before coming to Auxier, where I taught 6th grade ELA and social studies.
My Educational Philosophy
I believe that every single child is unique and capable. All children learn differently, have varied interests, and offer unique abilities to our group. My goal as an educator is to encourage my students and help all children realize how truly amazing they are. My students will also be encouraged to take responsibility for their learning. I expect my students to take initiative to ask questions, own their mistakes, and reflect on their learning and behavior. The only person responsible for you - is you!
The Choice is Yours! Why Choose Auxier Elementary School?
I love that Auxier brings our the leader in all of us. In sixth grade, we are encouraging student to be proactive and own their education. We are fostering responsibility and helping students grow in good habits before they leave the nest and head to Junior High, where they can be leaders on their new campus!
