    Welcome!

    I am excited to have the opportunity to help continue a strong tradition of gifted academies here in Chandler Unified School District. Through connecting and collaborating with the community both at a local and global level I feel that we can create a unique and long lasting identity for our school and our students. When I am not totally immersed in cogitating with our gifted students, I can be found hanging out with my 11 year old daughter and wife by our swimming pool or near our fire pit (season dependent).

    My Education and Professional Background

    I hold two education degrees from Northern Arizona University. In 2001 I earned a BA in Elementary Education, and in 2009 I acquired my MA in Educational Leadership. I have endorsements in Middle School Mathematics and Gifted Education. I have been a teacher for over twenty years. In those years, I have taught everything from kindergarten to 8th grade. My past 11 years of teaching has been in the gifted academies. Eight of those years were at Knox Gifted Academy and my past three years have been here, at Weinberg Gifted Academy.

    My Educational Philosophy

    A few years ago I was having a conversation with a 6th grader about which middle school they should attend, a student gave a heartfelt and honest answer. “Everyday, I come to school excited about what we will be doing in school and not necessarily what we will be learning, but how we will be learning. I want that feeling to last with me as long as possible.” That response helped me simplify my educational philosophy. I have created three foundations that I can base that philosophy around. Safety → Having Fun → Student Driven Learning.
