    Welcome!

    Welcome to an amazing new year! I am thrilled to be your ELA Teacher! I am here to welcome you to Casteel, and to help you to feel comfortable here. At home, I love spending time with my husband and children. Our family is always busy with activities like swimming, golfing, ice skating, and biking. My favorite place to be is at the beach!

    My Education and Professional Background

    I have many years of combined experience teaching Junior High ELA, the Elementary Grades, Special Education, and Eighth Grade Chemistry and Physics. I have enjoyed all of the different subjects that I have taught; however, English is my true passion! I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Special Education from Arizona State University and then obtained my Master's Degree in Elementary Education, with an emphasis in Counseling, from Northern Arizona University. I am trained in Spalding, Write from the Beginning and Thinking Maps, as well as the Wilson and Just Words reading programs. I also hold endorsements in ESL and Middle School English Language Arts.

    As a teacher, I strive to create a calm environment where students will feel safe and successful. I look forward to learning about your strengths and your interests. I promise to keep high expectations while also doing whatever I can to make the curriculum fun and interesting.
