    Welcome!

Welcome to Mrs. Larchick's Science class! I am so very excited to learn and grow with all of you this year! I feel so honored to be part of the awesome Science team at Casteel High School. I have a passion for discovering, exploring, and inventing. I can't wait to share that love with my students and inspire them to succeed. My husband Michael and I live in Gilbert with our three children; Jaycee, Jaspur, and Jaggur. We enjoy traveling and spending time with family and friends!

    My Education and Professional Background

I was born in Huntington Beach, California. I moved to Gilbert, Arizona in 1996, and graduated from Highland High School in 2000. (Go Hawks!) I graduated from Arizona State University with my Bachelors in Elementary Education in 2004. (Go Sun Devils!) I completed my Masters degree in Educational Leadership through Northern Arizona University in 2006. (Go Lumberjacks!) I have taught 4th, 5th, 6th, & 7th grade. I am certified for Middle Grades Science and Language Arts. This is the start of my 20th year in Education, and I am so excited to be at Casteel! (Go Colts!)

    My Educational Philosophy

I believe that each child is special and unique. They need a safe, secure, caring, and engaging environment in which they can grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, and socially. It is my desire to help students meet their fullest potential by providing a positive learning space that supports risk taking and a growth mindset. I believe that students learn best by doing, discovering, and experimenting. I believe it is important to incorporate real life experiences and want my students to have fun while learning. Our classroom is a community and we all can work together to achieve our goals and dreams, while accepting the differences in those around us. It is my goal to instill students with the mindset and tools to continue learning beyond their expectations. As Jack Lewman says, "Never stop learning; for when we stop learning, we stop growing."
