    My Education and Professional Background

    I graduated from Humboldt State University with my Bachelor's in English and Minors in Linguistics, Spanish, and Teaching English as a Second Language. I later received my teaching credential from San Diego State University in Secondary English. In my career, I have had the pleasure of teaching students from grades 6 through 12, and I have taught English 9-11 (On-Level & Honors) here at Casteel. I currently teach both English 9 & 10 Honors.

    My Educational Philosophy

    To best prepare students for the world beyond the K-12 environment, I believe that learning must be student-centered so that learners within my classroom can develop the important communicative and collaborative skills they will need to succeed in college, career, and civic life. I challenge my students to become the best versions of themselves as we explore diverse voices and perspectives in literature by supporting them in their development of essential 21st century skills, with emphases on collaboration, critical thinking, and communication.
