    Welcome!

Welcome to physical education! I am excited for another fun year with the WGA community! I believe that life-long physical activity and healthy habits are the key to a long happy life. I also believe that developing these habits when you are young will lead to a successful future. I know what being a gifted kid is like as I was in the gifted program growing up. Having an active body is important as it helps improve memory, brain function, and overall happiness.

    My Education and Professional Background

I received my bachelor's degree in Physical Education from Weber State University in Ogden, Utah. While in college, I played rugby and coached a local basketball team. After graduation, I taught for two years in Bullhead City at Sunrise Elementary School. During that same time, I continued my education and got my masters' degree in sports conditioning and performance from Southern Utah university. This will be my 4th year at WGA as the PE teacher.

Outside teaching, my hobbies include hiking, kayaking, pickleball, photography and running (currently training for a 50k in September).

    My Educational Philosophy

In my P.E. classes, I hope to encourage sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth over a must-win attitude. Physical fitness and mental fitness go hand in hand. In my experience, physical activity and exercise are great stress relievers and opportunities to strengthen oneself. In my classes, I strive to promote being physically active and goal setting as healthy lifestyles. Physical Education also addresses the importance of maintaining a healthy body and mind through positive behaviors.
