    Welcome!

    Hello!

My name is Chelsea Landers. Currently, I teach 9th grade English. After graduating from Georgia Southern University with my Master's of Arts in Teaching, I moved to the D.C. area. After some time there, I moved to Arizona with my husband Ryan and dog Oreo. Here, we started a family and laid down some roots. In October of 2020, we welcomed our baby girl Persephone into the world, and she lights up our lives. I love working with students and seeing how they learn and grow becoming wonderful individuals. I look forward to getting to know everyone! We will have a great year!

    My Education and Professional Background

In 2014, I graduated from Georgia Southern University with a Bachelor of Arts in English. In 2016, I continued my education at GSU and received a Master of Arts in Teaching. My first job was at Gar-field High School in Virginia; there, I taught 9th and 10th grade English. After moving to Arizona, I began working at Canyon Valley, which is an alternative school with Gilbert Unified School District. I also taught 9th and 10th grade; however, the age range varied. I could have a student who is twenty-one sitting next to another who is fourteen. Differentiating my lessons was of the utmost importance. How do I make a lesson rigorous for those in different age ranges? The answer: assessing students' individual needs. I truly cater to what each individual needs. After 3.5 years with Canyon, I began working here at CHS. I have been here 1.5 years, and I am excited to see what this new experience brings!

    My Educational Philosophy

Every student can learn, but it is up to me to give them the right tools. In doing so, I let students know I understand they have lives outside my room. Treating them like people rather than bodies in a room allows me to have a better success rate in my classroom. Setting up a classroom with structure and routine also shows the students I am someone they may depend on regularly. Finally, learning must be fun and engaging. Students should never leave my room negatively. If they do, I want to work with them to make things better.
