Welcome!
Parents and students, welcome to the 7th grade at Payne Junior High School! I’m so excited to be your English Language Arts teacher for this school year. I hope you’re ready for a fun and positive year of learning with me.
My Education and Professional Background
I received my B.S. in Education from the University of Phoenix in 2012. My teaching experience began with three years in East Asia, teaching English as a Foreign Language in public schools in South Korea and Taiwan. Upon returning home to Arizona, I spent six years in the Tempe Elementary School District, teaching 6th and 7th grade ELA. I am also certified to teach high school English. The 2022-2023 school year is my first year at Payne.
My Educational Philosophy
I work diligently to create a rigorous learning environment with an emphasis on higher-order thinking, authentic discussion, and creativity. I hope that my students will be able think critically about literature, themselves, and the world around them.
