    Welcome!

Hello! My name is Kaitlyn Arns and I am part of our awesome 5th grade team. I'm so excited to have another incredible year here at Goodman. I always look forward to the memories we make as a class in 5th grade along with our many projects and activities to show our learning and growth throughout the year. At the end of the day, I am here to support my students and their families as we journey through this year of laughter and learning together! :)

    My Education and Professional Background

I graduated from Northern Arizona University and have worked in the Flagstaff and Chandler Unified School Districts. This will be my second full year as a Goodman Gator and I could not be happier to be a part of the community this school has created.  I have worked with many different age groups in my teaching career, but fell in love with 5th grade early on!

I know that the day doesn't end when the final bell rings. I enjoy making art and participating in sports like many of my students! I teach the CTA Goodman Art Club after school and am a part of many other fun clubs on our campus. I love getting to know my students and learning about each of their unique interests both in and out of the classroom!

    My Educational Philosophy

I believe that every student should have their personal growth and effort celebrated by the peers and adults in their lives. To truly set students up with the tools they need to succeed, I provide students with opportunities to deeply investigate the topics they learn about. Not only do I want my students to build a love for learning, but I also want them to develop valuable skills they will use in their future. Students need emotional and academic support from teachers, family, and peers to be successful, and that is exactly what we develop in 5th grade. Every student is creative in their own way, and in my class, we use collaboration, compassion, and higher-level thinking skills to achieve greatness!
