Welcome!
Hi everyone!! My name is Miss Tierney and I am the K-3 Specially Designed Classroom teacher here at Navarrete!! I am so fortunate to be surrounded by some of the best kids each and every day. Outside of school, I love hanging out at the pool, strolling the aisles of Target, petting every dog I see, and cheering on my hometown Cleveland sports teams!
I am originally from Chardon, Ohio which is outside of Cleveland. I spent 2 years in Arizona before moving to Minnesota for 2 years. Eventually, I realized that the sun and warmth were too good to pass up and I decided Arizona was where I needed to make my new home!
I am looking forward to another great year at Navarrete. Please reach out with any questions or concerns. You are a vital part of this community and we are in this together! Thank you for sharing your children with me, they are the reason I am here!My Education and Professional Background
I studied Special Education and Early Childhood Education at The University of Akron in Akron, Ohio. During college, I had the opportunity to work alongside the LeBron James Family Foundation supporting students in their I Promise programs. I completed my student teaching in Akron Public Schools in special education. After graduation in 2018, I was able to do a study abroad trip to Ireland and Northern Ireland with a focus on international education and sociology.
Prior to coming to Chandler, I taught K-3 Special Education for 2 years in the Glendale Elementary School District, K-5 Special Education for 1 year in St. Louis Park Schools (Minnesota), and K-5 Special Education for 1 year in Minneapolis Public Schools (Minnesota). I am so happy to have finally found my place in Chandler!
My Educational Philosophy
"An understanding heart is everything in a teacher, and cannot be esteemed highly enough. One looks back with appreciation to the brilliant teachers, but with gratitude to those who touched our human feeling. The curriculum is so much necessary raw material, but warmth is the vital element for the growing plant and for the soul of the child." - Carl Jung
I believe that every child will be the most successful when they are in an environment that celebrates their differences. Each child deserves to feel safe, loved, seen, and heard. My goal is to help every student remember that they can do hard things, and that they have a whole room of people cheering them on each day.Click to Report a Website Problem
