    Welcome to my webpage. My name is Sylvia Grace and I am an instructor at Casteel High School where I teach engineering and AP chemistry. I am currently the CTE department head and is the advisor for National Honor Society and Skills USA Engineering club. I also teach chemistry part time for Chandler Online Academy as well and at Chandler Gilbert Community College as an adjunct professor.

    My Education and Professional Background

    I hold a Bachelor's of Science in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Business Administration and a Masters' Degree in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Environmental Engineering Management. Both were earned at New Mexico State University. I also have a post bac from Arizona State University in secondary Science Education with an emphasis in Chemistry. I also hold my National Board Certification  in Chemistry.

    I began teaching in 1988 and took a 6 year break to utilize my engineering degrees from 1995 to 2001, when I worked for IBM and Dell as a process engineer. I have been teaching in Arizona since 2002 but have taught in New Mexico and Texas.

    I am also a Master Teacher in Engineering for Project Lead The Way, a national pre-engineering program and was responsible for bringing the program to the state of Arizona.in 2004. 

    My Educational Philosophy

    My educational philosophy is that education is the responsibility of both the teacher and the student. Therefore I am a facilitator of student centered, project based learning.
