    Welcome!

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year! I hope you've all had a chance to relax and have fun over summer :) My family and I were able to spend a lot of time together this summer. Our favorite was vacationing in Washington D.C. and Virginia. We have 4 children who are all in CUSD. They will be starting 2nd (twins), 6th, and 7th grade.

    My Education and Professional Background

I graduated from ASU with a B.S. in Biology and Society. As part of this program, I worked in the ASU Psychology research lab which focused on "Stress and Memory".  After graduation, I worked at a UPMC hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa. During this time, I also worked on the PLuSS Study through the University of Pittsburgh. I began teaching Biology at Combs High School in 2020, just prior to the pandemic.  I was tasked with teaching and developing curriculum for Integrated Science, a new course for the 2020-2021 school year.  While I enjoyed my students and the view of the Superstition Mountains from my classroom, I really wanted to be at CUSD with my kids.  I moved to Hamilton High School for the 2022-2023 school year.  I have enjoyed teaching here with an inquiry-based curriculum to guide students to higher-order thinking.

    My Educational Philosophy

Inquiry-based science gives students a first row to observing the process of scientific discovery. They should question, analyze and reason their claims. My hope is that students do their learning by self-discovery using the resources given to them. Students need to take ownership of their own learning through hard work, organization, and discipline (Preferably while making friendships and making memories).
