Welcome!
Hi! My name is James Thomas and I have been teaching since 2023. I was born and raised in California on the central coast. I moved to Arizona in 2016 and fell in love with the stunning landscapes and nature. I spend the majority of my free time with my wife, family, or friends. I am a lover of movies, food, and nature.
I spent most of my early education in gifted programs and classes, so I feel incredibly connected to this program. I knew that I wanted to be a teacher ever since my 7th-grade world history class. My teacher was a storyteller who made learning about different cultures captivating and exciting. From that moment, I knew I wanted to help students get excited about the things that they are learning. I look forward to working with each of you!My Education and Professional Background
I received my undergraduate degree from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff in Strategic Communication with an emphasis in Public Relations. I also received a minor in Creative Media and Film and an undergraduate certificate in Nonprofit and Social Entrepreneurship. I completed an educational program for K-8 through Scottsdale Community College.
My Educational Philosophy
I am dedicated to creating a positive and supportive classroom environment where students feel valued, respected, and encouraged to express themselves. Through building strong relationships and fostering teamwork, I aim to create a sense of belonging and collaboration. I strongly believe in connecting classroom concepts to real-life situations, making education relevant and practical for students. By promoting independent learning, curiosity, and a growth mindset, I empower students to take charge of their education and develop essential skills for lifelong learning.
In summary, my teaching philosophy centers around building strong relationships, fostering collaboration, emphasizing real-world application, and promoting independent learning. By prioritizing these aspects, I strive to create an inclusive and engaging learning environment where students feel empowered, motivated, and equipped with the necessary skills to thrive academically and personally.Click to Report a Website Problem
