My Education and Professional Background
In the Fall of 2017, I studied education at Long Beach City College. I eventually transferred to Northern Arizona University and graduated in 2022 with a Bachelor of Science degree for Secondary Education in History & Social Studies. The education program at NAU taught me so much, and gave me up to 60 hours of experience in the classroom. Before moving to Andersen Junior High School in Chandler Unified School District, I spent one year at Flagstaff High School where I student-taught World History, and stayed there for the rest of the year to work with at-risk seniors and teach the credit recovery courses.
My Educational Philosophy
In short, my philosophy comes to the fact that I believe supporting the students' academic, social and emotional growth come before subject-area content. It is important to not only acknowledge each individual's strengths, quirks, skills and interests, but celebrate them. It is my job to create a safe and equitable class culture in order to have a productive struggle.
The Choice is Yours! Why Choose Andersen Junior High?
As an upcoming first year teacher, I was nervous about moving to the Phoenix area. I had a rigorous application process that took months to even get an interview. After meeting the administration team at Andersen Junior High School as well as a small number of colleagues, I immediately felt at home. I have full confidence and trust that the staff around me will lead our students to success. This, in turn, will push me to be a better teacher and a better person each and every day.
