    My Education and Professional Background

I am from Scotland, where I was educated and achieved my Honors Degree and Post Graduate Diploma.  I have 20 years of experience in Human Resource Management and when my family relocated to Arizona I applied my coaching, development, and communication skills to enhancing students’ lives within the Chandler Unified School District.  I have worked here since 2018 and was fortunate to be accepted to the position of Resource Teacher at Andersen Elementary School in July 2023.

    My Educational Philosophy

My philosophy of education is centered around the belief that every student has the potential to succeed. I believe that positive interactions and personalized teaching are key to unlocking this potential. My end goal is to help my students develop the skills and knowledge they need to be successful in life.

As an educator, I see myself as a facilitator of learning. My role is to create a safe and supportive environment where students feel comfortable taking risks and exploring new ideas. I believe that every student is unique and that it’s important to view them holistically. By understanding their strengths, weaknesses, interests, and passions, I can tailor my teaching to meet their individual needs.

In my classroom, I use a variety of teaching methods to keep my students engaged and motivated. I believe that hands-on learning is particularly effective, as it allows students to apply what they’ve learned in a real-world context.
