    ABOUT ME:
I am a New York native and I moved to Arizona in 2005.  I've been teaching 18 years, and I've been with the A.C.P. schools since 2010.  I am excited to be FT at ACP Middle School for my second year.  I currently teach orchestra and a bi-weekly guitar club.

    EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:
I studied double bass w/ John Dewitt (Mannes) and John Geggie (Crane School of Music - S.U.N.Y Potsdam).  At Crane, I was principal bass for the symphony orchestra for three semesters and asst. principal for one.  I held the bass chair for the jazz ensemble and the asst.-bass chair for the chamber orchestra.  I also studied violin, viola, and cello as my degree had an emphasis in strings.  I earned a B.M. in music education and graduated magna cum laude from Crane before I student-taught in Syracuse, NY.  After college, I traveled to Mexico for several months on a Spanish immersion program.  During that time, I traveled all over the southern and eastern regions of Mexico as well as taught music to inner-city children.  In 2018, I earned a M.Ed. in educational leadership from Grand Canyon University.

    PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND:
I began teaching orchestra in Syracuse, NY within the Liverpool School District.  I moved to Arizona in 2005 and taught for the Deer Valley School District for several years.  Since 2009, I have been teaching orchestra for the Chandler Unified School District.  I have been teaching for A.C.P. since 2010.  I have performed professionally with symphony orchestras, jazz big bands, pit orchestras for venues like Phoenix Theater, rock bands, and my current variety band since 2009.

    EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
Learning music means learning how to set goals, take responsibility for ourselves, meet deadlines, and collaborate positively with a variety of different people. Teamwork is a very important part of what I teach in an orchestra class. As students excel at their instruments, they gain skills and techniques.  But they also learn that to achieve in life takes work and dedication.  At the core of it all, I hope they learn that work can be fun, and that achieving goals is rewarding.
