Welcome to Carlson Elementary. I am very happy to be a part of the Carlson Elementary School team and am looking forward to working with you and your child/children this school year! My Education and Professional Background
I have been in the Chandler Unified School District since 2006 as a Special Education Teacher and as a Counselor.
Before I was in education, I worked in the counseling field in residential treatment centers, mental health agencies, and as a juvenile parole officer for the State of Nebraska. My passion has always been working with children and helping them grow both academically and emotionally.
• Bachelor Degree-Psychology
• Master's Degree- Cross Categorical Special Education
• School Guidance Counselor Certification
My Educational Philosophy
As a school counselor, I believe that all children can learn and reach their potential if they are given the correct support for their individual needs. Many students are impacted by things that happen in and out of the school setting, and this can affect their ability to do their best when they are in the classroom. When these factors are addressed, children can learn the necessary strategies and tools to help them be successful in their everyday lives.
I also believe, it is important to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff members. By doing this we can work together to help students achieve their highest success not only in their academics, but in their behavior, social interactions, and overall emotional wellbeing. When you walk into my office, my goal is for you to feel welcome, and have a safe place to communicate your needs.
