Welcome!

I am excited to be your child's band teacher! I started playing trombone in 5th grade and never stopped. Playing music has taken me all over the country and beyond -- I've performed in 25 states and 5 other countries. I look forward to sharing my experience and helping the 5th and 6th grade band students begin their own musical adventure.

My Education and Professional Background

  • Bachelor of Music in Music Education, West Virginia University
  • Master of Music in Trombone Performance, University of North Texas
  • Doctor of Musical Arts in Trombone Performance, Arizona State University
I have been teaching music in CUSD since 2006 and became an elementary band director in the fall of 2018. I am also an adjunct music instructor at Chandler-Gilbert Community College and previously taught in the summers at the North Carolina Governor's School. I am active as a professional musician, regularly playing with top classical, jazz, musical theatre, rock, and Latin music groups throughout the valley and the state.

My Educational Philosophy

I want every student to participate in music! Performing not only increases students' knowledge, appreciation, and interest in music, but also enhances students' confidence in their abilities to learn and express themselves.
