Myers...
AP US History is a demanding class, but can also be very rewarding. Students enrolled in this course are expected to do a considerable amount of reading from both the major text and from supplementary sources. This reading will be done outside of class, and class time will be spent in applying the outside reading to the content and themes of this course. We will do this in a variety of ways, including analysis of Primary and Secondary sources, class discussions, writing, and other activities.
My Education and Professional Background
I have a degree in Communications from Eastern New Mexico University (go Greyhounds!) and a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Northern Arizona University. I have been fortunate to teach in the Chandler District for the last thirteen years. I have taught 7th grade US History, 8th Grade Government/Economics, and 8th grade US History at Willis Junior High.
My Educational Philosophy
My favorite challenge in teaching is trying to figure out how to incorporate different disciplines into my teaching. I enjoy working with other teachers to integrate Science, Math and Reading into the Social Studies lessons that I teach. I find it rewarding when those ideas actually work.
