    Welcome!

    Hello! My name is Sarah Durel. This is my 17th year at Ryan. I am looking forward to another amazing year!

    My Education and Professional Background

    I attended the University of New Orleans to complete my degree in Elementary Education.  While I was there, I took an active role in the College of Education and many of the programs it offered.  Due to Hurricane Katrina, I moved back to Arizona where I completed my student teaching in the Chandler Unified School District.  I also have a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from NAU.  This will be my 17th year as a first grade teacher at Ryan Elementary.

    My Educational Philosophy

    My goal is to provide a safe, creative, and fun learning environment for my students. I believe that accomplishing this promotes self-motivation to becoming lifelong learners. I incorporate each student's strengths to create a sense of cooperation while learning as a classroom and within smaller groups. I look forward to creating a supportive community atmosphere here at Ryan Elementary by working and growing with each student and their families. My primary objective as an educator is to provide each one of my students with every tool required to build a foundation allowing them to accomplish the most during this school year, and every school year to follow.
