Welcome!
Hello and welcome to 1st grade at WGA! I am super excited to be working with you and your student this year. Students will be working towards many goals, including, collaboration, critical thinking, communication, and creativity!
My Education and Professional Background
Welcome! I am in my 27th year of teaching. I began teaching as a math and literature teacher to 6th graders in New Mexico. After moving to Arizona, I taught Kindergarten for 6 years in Maricopa County Alternative School District. We moved to South Chandler and I began teaching 1st grade for CUSD in 2004 at Navarette Elementary. From 2007-2017, I taught Kindergarten at Santan Elementary and from 2017-2022, I taught 1st/2nd ELD and 3rd Grade at Rudy G. Bologna Elementary. I am so excited to be joining the Weinberg Gifted Academy as a 1st grade teacher! I have my Masters Degree from NAU in Early Childhood Education, with a Reading Specialist Endorsement, Full SEI Endorsement, & Early Childhood Education Endorsement. I received my STEM certification from the NASA Endeavor STEM Program in December 2021, and I have earned my Gifted Education Endorsement 2024.I am married with two daughters, Shelby and Emma, both working towards their degrees from NAU and GCU. I love reading, cooking, 3D puzzles, attending sporting events with my family, and most of all, continuing my own education to bring the very best to my students! My Educational Philosophy
My goal in teaching is to make a child's school experiences fun and nurturing which I hope sets a pattern of being a life-long learner. I will work hard to create an environment where students feel safe to explore and take risks.
