Anderton...
Bienvenidos a la clase de Español Hello! I'll be your instructor this year for Spanish III Dual Enrollment or AP Spanish IV Dual Enrollment. This year in class, I hope to give you the best experience you can have in second language acquisition. Please know ahead of time that we will be speaking lots of Spanish so if you feel a little uncomfortable at first that is to be expected. Please don't hesitate to contact me should you have any questions about the class.
My Education and Professional Background
This is my 14th year of teaching in the public school setting. Prior to that I spent 6 years at one of the world's finest second-language immersion institutes. My B.A. is in Spanish (Brigham Young University) and my M.Ed. is in TESOL (Grand Canyon University). I understand what it means to learn a second language because I have been through the process myself. My missionary service in Argentina and work experience in Spain and Puerto Rico have given me a unique perspective of Latin-American and Iberian Peninsular culture. Currently, I also work as adjunct faculty for Mesa Community College (ESL) and Brigham Young University Idaho (Pathway).
My Educational Philosophy
I believe that any student with the proper effort and tools can achieve success in second-language acquisition. It is extremely important to give an honest effort each day and be an active learner. I can't steer a parked car.
