About
Houg...
Welcome to my website. I teach Dual Enrollment English and on level Senior English. You can use this website to find out what is going on in my class as well as what work needs to be made up when a student is absent.
My Education and Professional Background
I have enjoyed teaching English at Perry since 2013. I graduated Summa Cum Laude with my undergraduate degree from Arizona State University, and then I went back to ASU to earn my Master’s in English Education.
My Educational Philosophy
I believe every child is a unique individual that is capable of learning when given the right environment and instructional activities. It is my job to create a safe and enjoyable learning environment that provides challenging and meaningful learning experiences. Building community is vital for a successful learning environment- and I believe when student's leave my classroom they are family. My vision of where my students need to be is what drives my lessons. I am a facilitator of education and I believe it is my job to make every student a reflective learner so that even when troubles arise they are able to stay motivated and continue to strive. I will build self-esteem within my students by providing them with opportunities to succeed every day. This year will not be easy, I have very high expectations for my students, but I know that with time they will exceed those expectations.
