I'm very happy to be teaching for the Chandler School District. I grew up in Mesa, AZ and have taught strings since 1997 in various parts of the States and overseas. In addition to teaching, I have also played professionally with the Eugene Symphony, the Oregon Mozart Players, the Shreveport Symphony , the Cambridge Philharmonic, and the South Carolina Philharmonic. I have music degrees from Arizona State University and the University of Oregon and an MBA from the University of Phoenix.

I believe that all children can learn to play a musical instrument and should for the development of the brain, the body and the soul. Learning to play an instrument is a skill that can last a lifetime and promotes other skills such as coordination, discipline, goal-setting, self-confidence and self-expression.

Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education with a minor in Early Childhood: Northern State University, Aberdeen, SD (1998) Masters of Art in Education / Educational Counseling: University of Phoenix (2004). I earned National Board Certification in Early Childhood (2017; 2021). I taught both Kindergarten & First Grade for two decades and greatly enjoy the enormous amount of growth that takes place in these younger years. As a Media Specialist I am continuing my own love of learning and sharing my love of children's books with our students. I also have the pleasure of helping with the KSMB News each day. It is so much fun to see our 5th and 6th graders gain new skills and confidence in the area of video production. I have proudly spent my career teaching in Title I schools.

But my favorite is when a student entered me for the Red Apple Award and I was chosen!

I've been a teacher here at San Marcos since 2012. I taught Middle School previously in the Isaac School District in Phoenix, AZ for 3 years.

I believe that all children have the innate ability to learn, and it is my responsibility to identify the best method to teach each student. I recognize that children have distinctive learning and developmental needs, and I believe that effective teaching is tailored to meet the needs of each child. In order to do this, I will use my knowledgeable of child development and my understanding of children's individual needs and abilities to create a healthy, respectful, supportive, and challengin I believe that the goal of early childhood education is to support and advance children's development by educating the whole child. Mrs. Nettles first began teaching with CUSD in 2002. She holds a bachelor's degree in elementary education from ASU and a master's degree in curriculum and instruction from NAU. Mrs. Nettles has taught children in grades 2-6 with CUSD. In addition, she has taught college level courses including Child Development, Cultural Diversity in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, and Achieving Academic Success for the Maricopa Community College District.

It is my mission to help each student experience success by guiding them to doors they may have not yet discovered and providing them with the tools necessary to open those doors. While we focus on academics, I also place major emphasis on character building in our classroom. I have high expectations for students both academically and socially and I'm also willing to do what it takes to help them meet these goals. Mistakes along the way are not only accepted but encouraged as they prove that students are stepping outside of their comfort zone and willing to face a challenge.
