My Educational Philosophy
It is my philosophy that children have a natural curiosity about the world around them and want to learn. When students are in a safe environment where they are able to ask questions, test theories, and make mistakes, learning comes naturally. Students need to feel that their ideas and contributions are valued. When students are solving problems and thinking critically, basic skills in reading, writing, and mathematics are needed to prove and justify responses. My goal as a teacher is to create an environment where students feel safe and want to learn. I want my students to laugh, learn, and love reading.

My Education and Professional Background
I completed my Sociology B.A. specializing in Family Studies at ASU in 2001. After graduating, I was blessed with the beginnings of my amazing family life with my husband Matt. We moved to Chandler, Arizona in January 2014 with my husband's job at Intel Corporation. Since coming to Arizona, we have enjoyed the many things that our new home has to offer. We try to have new adventures while exploring the area. I look forward to a wonderful school year!
My Education and Professional Background
I did not start my career in teaching, but found my calling later in life. I was an Account Executive for Qwest Communications handling multi-million dollar national business accounts. I chose to leave the business world behind to dedicate my time to my three young children. I also returned to school and received my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from the College of Santa Fe, with an emphasis on Psychology. I returned to teach Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd Grade in Albuquerque, New Mexico for six years. While teaching in New Mexico, I was nominated for The Golden Apple Award and The Albuquerque Public School Teacher Honor Roll. I also met some incredible families and still cherish their friendship.
My Educational Philosophy
I believe the children learn best while they are having fun! I strive to keep students engaged in all subject matters by creating a connection with material. I have also found that teaching children is very similar to presenting to a boardroom – you only have a few seconds to get their attention. Children will let you know very quickly if they are buying what you are selling.

Alcalà...
Welcome to our 1st Grade Learning Community! I am so glad to be a part of your child’s educational journey! I look forward to getting to know you and your family. It’s going to be a great year!
My Education and Professional Background
I completed my Sociology B.A. specializing in Family Studies at ASU in 2001. After graduating, I was blessed with the beginnings of my amazing family life with my husband Matt. We are thankful for the opportunity to raise our family as an extension of the hard-working families we are both blessed to come from. While raising my children to Kindergarten entry, I worked a variety of fields in corporate America that include the banking, insurance, retail, and hospitality industries. Once my youngest started Kindergarten, I was able to complete my teaching certification at Rio Salado. I was hired on here at CTA Goodman in 2013. I then completed my Masters in Education specializing in Instructional Leadership at Northcentral University in 2014.
My Educational Philosophy
Learning is their journey. Teach them the skills. Let them navigate. Push them to explore. Watch them discover. Encourage their questions. Allow them to struggle. Support their thinking. Let them grow.

Jensen...
Welcome to Second Grade! Next to being a wife and a mother, I love teaching the most. My most memorable teachers were those that expected me to do my best, helped me to become better, and had fun doing it. This is what I hope to pass onto your children. With your help at home, I know we will all have a fantastic year of learning and getting to know one another.
My Education and Professional Background
While living in CA, I earned my BA in English from Cal Poly Pomona. I earned my teaching certificate and MA in Curriculum and Instruction from ASU. I had dreams of becoming a high school English teacher when I was younger; but after having my own children, I realized that my heart was in elementary education. I still have an affinity for writing, as my students soon find out! Every student deserves to learn about their own individual potential and then be guided to reach towards it. I teach to share my enthusiasm for learning and build confidence within each student. Each day I strive to aid students in becoming respectful of others and responsible for their own actions while teaching them to become problem solvers and bold thinkers.
My Educational Philosophy
I employ various instructional strategies to reach every style of learner so that they can feel successful no matter what their level of knowledge may be. When students are treated as unique individuals who learn in different ways, they flourish not only academically but also as the wonderful people they were meant to become.

Welcome to the CTA-Goodman Elementary School music program! All students participate in thirty minute General Music classes once every three days. Band and orchestra/strings are offered before school to fifth and sixth grade students - a wonderful opportunity to learn to play an instrument! The CTA model offers first and second year band and strings programs to all fifth and sixth graders. After school Chorus Club is offered to 4th, 5th and 6th graders.
My Education and Professional Background
I received my bachelor's degree in Music Education from the University of Arizona. After completing graduate work in music at Arizona State University, I pursued a master's degree from Northern Arizona University in Elementary Education. I have been at CTA-Goodman since it opened.
My Educational Philosophy
Schools are urged to teach for the future workplace. Per the U.S. Department of Labor, the skills recommended (working in teams, communication, self-esteem, creative thinking, imagination, and invention) are those learned in school music classes. Students achieve these skills through active involvement of music, language and movement. It is my charge to nurture students' life-long love of music, fostering that appreciation through skills and musicianship, cultivating the next generation of music consumers, performers and composers.

Hello and welcome to the third grade! I am so excited to be here at CTA - Goodman. I love seeing students learn and grow. I also love to watch my almost two year old learn all of her new tricks too! I look forward to an amazing year full of fun times and lots of learning!
My Education and Professional Background
I always knew I wanted to be a teacher. I attended San Diego State University where I got my BA in Liberal Studies and an emphasis in Human Development. I moved to Arizona in 2010 and began teaching. I have taught 5th grade, 4th grade and first grade. I love seeing students learn and grow.
My Educational Philosophy
My personal goal for my classroom is to challenge students and watch them grow to their full potential. I want to take students at different levels and see them develop together for the betterment of each other. From my educational experiences, I know how valuable teacher encouragement and motivation is for personal motivation. I intend to motivate students while teaching them to be intrinsically motivated through challenging yet supportive lessons and assignments. Teaching young minds is a task that cannot be taken lightly. It is full of challenges, frustrations, and responsibilities. However, it is a task that is also full of excitement, wonder, and joy. I strongly believe that all children are capable of learning, if they have the proper motivation and direction from their teachers. I look forward to a great year!

Jacobs...
Welcome to sixth grade as a Goodman Gator. Sixth grade is an exciting year as students prepare themselves academically and socially for the next stop on their journey- junior high. I am happy to be a part of this.
My Education and Professional Background
I graduated in 2001 from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Education. I spent the following year substitute teaching which helped me decide what grades I wanted to teach. Then I spent three years teaching 5th grade in the Gilbert School District. With a possible family move to California, I stepped away from teaching. During this time I earned a certificate in paralegal studies. But I quickly learned my heart was still in the classroom. I taught for eight years in a small charter school in Chandler before moving to CTA Goodman.
My Educational Philosophy
I believe that every child is a gift. I believe that every child holds within himself or herself a great potential, but that it needs to be nourished. I believe every child can learn. I believe every child can succeed. I believe I have joined a partnership with parents to help their child reach that potential.

Welcome to band. I hope the information is helpful to you. If you ever have any questions, please email me as it is the most reliable way to reach me.
My Education and Professional Background
I am a product of CUSD. I graduated from Chandler High School in 2007. I have been playing music since I was 9 years old when I started playing the Clarinet. I hold a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Education from Ottawa University with an endorsement in K-12 Music Education. I have been teaching Band and Orchestra (4th-8th Grades) for six years in the Phoenix and Queen Creek School Districts.
My Educational Philosophy
I believe on focusing on fundamentals first. This may mean taking a few steps back at the beginning however once the students have a firm grasp of the basics it will exponentially increase their ability to be self-sufficient in the long run. When the students can feel successful, especially with something they put together with just a bit of guidance from me, that becomes invaluable because they will want to do it again and again.

My Education and Professional Background
I graduated from Arizona State University from the iTeach program where I studied Elementary Education. I believe every child is capable of accomplishing incredible things. It is important that I understand each child individually in order to make sure I can accommodate to each of their specific needs. It is also important to hold high expectations for all students but also make learning fun. Hulsing...
Welcome to the Hive, Honeybees! I am so excited to have your child in my classroom this year. As you will soon discover, it will be an incredible year of growth and discovery for your child. I moved to Chandler this summer and I’m so excited to make CTA Goodman my new home… Go Gators!
My Education and Professional Background
I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Florida State University with my Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education and a minor in Family & Child Sciences. My teaching internships were in kindergarten and 2nd grade, both of which I loved. After I graduated from FSU I moved to Washington to be closer to my family, and alternated between teaching kindergarten and second grade for the past 5 years. I’m so happy to teach 1st grade this year and see what the middle ground looks like!
My Educational Philosophy
I wholeheartedly believe that early childhood is the most critical period of a student’s life. The experiences one has during the primary grades can make or break the innate curiosity and wonder of young children. As an early childhood educator, I strive to act as a facilitator for children to explore their natural inquisitiveness of how the world works. I believe that education is ultimately the responsibility of the student, and make my classroom a thriving environment to help students explore on their own and become lifelong learners. I am also a believer in the Love and Logic discipline method. My students pay attention to me and perform well because of our loving relationship with one another. By building positive relationships with students, I create a safe learning environment for all.

I received my bachelor’s degree in Elementary and Special Education from Northern Arizona University. I plan to further my education in the future. I was hired at CTA Goodman in 2018.
My Educational Philosophy
I believe that learning is a lifelong process. Students will know the importance of learning and continuing to grow no matter their age. Students also need an environment that is caring and secure and encourages growth as well as working together. If students feel as though they can be themselves, learning will be accomplished.

Palagonia...
Hello and welcome to 4th grade! I'm very excited to be a Gator this year and be back in Arizona where I began my teaching career. I look forward to a year full of growth, achievement, and fun with the amazing students at CTA Goodman. My husband and I are both teachers and we have two children, both of whom are thrilled to be going to school in Chandler again. It’s going to be a fabulous year!
My Education and Professional Background
I have a B.A. in Linguistics from the University of Kansas and a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Kansas as well as a M.Ed. Elementary Education from Northern Arizona University. I was fortunate to begin my teaching career with CUSD at San Marcos Elementary, where I spent 5 years teaching grades 4 and 5. In 2011, my husband and I decided to go on an adventure with our children, so we moved to the United Arab Emirates. I taught grades 1, 2, and 3 to Emirati students for 5 years in public schools in Abu Dhabi. In 2016, we moved to Dubai, and I’ve spent the last 3 years teaching grades 2 and 4 at a private American curriculum school.
My Educational Philosophy
My goal as a teacher is to help each of my students develop a passion for learning and a positive mindset, believing that they can reach their goal through perseverance and hard work. Every child has the ability and deserves the opportunity to succeed in his or her education, and it is my responsibility to foster an environment that is supportive, safe, and opportunity rich in order for each student to flourish.
