WHAT:
Science Olympiad competitions are like academic track meets consisting of a series of 23 individual and team events. Students select events that interest them and meet with coaches for training once or twice a week.
Emphasis is placed on active, hands-on, group participation. Depending on the event signed up for, students can build a device, take a written test, conduct an experiment, answer questions verbally, or sometimes a combination of all of the above!
Science Olympiad is a great extra-curricular activity. Last year, over 40 schools from across the state competed. This is the first year any Chandler School will take part in this state competition. Casteel High School is blazing a trail of science and engineering. We hope that you’ll join this year’s team.
Science Olympiad is a nationally organized STEM competition in biology, chemistry, physics, earth sciences and engineering! Students from around Arizona will compete on March 10, 2018 at Arizona State University.
Meetings are on Tuesdays 2:35pm to 4pm in Science C 22. Tournaments are held on 7 Saturdays from October to March.
WHO CAN JOIN?
We have two teams—Jr. High (7-8) and High School (9-11).
