This leadership course isn’t just about preparing students to go to college, it’s about teaching students how to be successful, happy, and productive wherever they go. When students enjoy what they are doing, they excel in college, in the workplace, and in all aspects of life. The Leadership Society of Arizona (LSA) has created a fun leadership program based on 25 years of professional development research conducted at ASU (2,000+ tests valued at $6.6B). The program teaches students how to use natural laws and logical thinking skills to learn ten times faster, manage their stress, and solve problems by utilizing expertise from their parents and other mentors. LSA has worked with over 1,200 students with a 96% satisfaction rating. As a result, 75% feel less stressed and 64% feel more confident about their futures.

Be A Leader Institute – High School (BLIH) is a program for high school students that provide monthly workshops to help them build a college-going mentality and teach them critical academic test taking skills that are necessary to become prepared for college requirements including entrance exams. The Be A Leader Foundation’s (BALF) goal is to increase their interest in and awareness of college by teaching a university focused curriculum. BALF will continue to work directly with these individuals to develop a network of college bound students through each of the campus Be A Leader Clubs.  BLIH’s primary goal is to get high school students college bound, focused and prepared. We will achieve this goal by providing a positive learning environment and a college-focused mentality for each participant to develop their educational 4 plus 4 plan. Our primary objective is to continue to prepare college bound students through active participation in our monthly BLIH workshops and Be A Leader High School Clubs including the support by our Be A Leader Parent Club. BLIH welcomes all high school students to attend our monthly program workshops without the need to apply to the program.

Are you a high schools student in Chandler who wants to make a difference in the community?
Apply for membership in this advisory group and give a voice to the youth of Chandler. Not only will you provide service to the community, you will also develop personal leadership skills.

Meetings are held at the Community Center (125 E. Commonwealth Ave) the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m.

The 19 members  of the Youth Commission make recommendations to the City Council regarding Chandler youth. The members learn about city government, develop leadership skills, and provide community service. They also participate in various events, fund-raisers and programs for Chandler youth and teens.

Are you too young to get a job? Do you want to gain valuable skills that will help you get a job when you turn 16? The City’s Leaders-In-Training program can help you. 

Are you between 13 and 17 years old and looking for something to do during the spring intersession and summer break?  If so, then you should consider joining the Leaders In Training Program! In this program, you will be placed in an actual work environment within the City of Chandler where you will gain experience and will learn about real jobs.

Placements at specific sites ARE NOT GUARANTEED but we try our best to put the best candidates at each site based on their qualifications and site availability. Also, during several workshops in the Summer LIT program, you will learn leadership and interviewing skills to get the job that you’ve always wanted. The hours can be counted toward scholarships and the program looks great on your first job application! 

Entering its 19th year, the Youth Awards honor Latino high school seniors who excel in the classroom and community and for their focus in various categories including: Business & Entrepreneurship, Community Service, Education, Healthcare & Science, Media & Entertainment, Science, Technology, and Engineering, & Mathematics (STEM).

Youth Awards begin with a high-profile, national search through a celebrity-based multimedia campaign that includes partnerships with more than 5,000 high schools and hundreds of colleges, media, elected officials, businesses and organizations. Approximately 10,000 applications are collected from qualified juniors who are honored as seniors in the fall.

Students have an average GPA of 3.5 or higher, and are promoted as role models to inspire others and shatter negative stereotypes. Youth Awardees can receive grants for education or community projects to encourage social innovation and entrepreneurship.

March of Dimes provides opportunities for you to get involved as leaders in many ways.  From serving on our top National Youth Council to being a youth team captain for March for Babies, there is a leadership opportunity for you. 

TGen's Bioscience Leadership Academy is a two-week bioscience program serving 20 Arizona high school students every summer. The intensive education and leadership program focuses on elevating students' understanding of the biosciences and precision medicine. 

The Youth Leadership Council (YLC) is designed to engage youth to become more involved in their future. Youth are trained to enter meaningful roles in the policy and decision making processes within the local Youth Workforce Development System, their schools, communities and places of employment. The program is operated on the principles of project based learning and assists youth with developing leadership and facilitation skills. Youth are full partners in the process.
