The Dignity Health Sports Medicine program provides athletic trainers within the schools’ athletics programs. They are there to provide immediate access for injury evaluation, rehabilitation, emergency care and more. If your athlete needs assistance be sure to reach out to our athletic trainers.
Katie Symonds, Athletic Trainer
Katie joined Casteel High School athletic training as the head athletic trainer in July of 2018. Prior to Casteel Katie worked at Hamilton High School for two years. Katie is a Certified Athletic Trainer by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification and a Licensed Athletic Trainer in the State of Arizona. Katie earned a bachelor’s degree in athletic training from San Jose State University (San Jose, CA) and a master’s degree in athletic training from A.T. Still University (Mesa, AZ).

Rebecca Halstead, PRN Athletic Trainer
Rebecca joined Casteel High School in July of 2020 as a sports medicine teacher and is currently still in this role. In August of 2021 she was contracted as a PRN athletic trainer with Dignity Heath’s outreach athletic training program. In this role she has worked with both CUSD Junior High and High Schools. As of July 2023, Dignity has assigned Rebecca as the assistant athletic trainer at CCHS.
Prior to working with Dignity Health, Rebecca worked for Henry Ford Health Systems, in Michigan, as the head athletic trainer for Michigan Center Jr/Sr School. She was the head athletic trainer at Dobson High School and Desert Ridge High School here in Arizona.
Rebecca is a Certified Athletic Trainer by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification and a Licensed Athletic Trainer in the State of Arizona. Rebecca earned a bachelor’s degree in athletic training with a pre-medicine minor from Grand Canyon University (Phoenix, AZ) in 2014.
